Red and gold?

Featured Replies

While i love my new glossy black wheels I do feel the intricate nature of the design is lost a little with an all black finish.

However with a second set of 16" spiders to refurb over the spring/summer I did consider going black again maybe with body coloured contrasting sections on the insides of the spokes

but think i want to keep them a light colour and i can't get gold out of my mind?

Does gold actually work with red?

and if not is it likely to work with any other colours? An SE maybe, or black/silver and gold?

Or would they be destined to sit in my garage for ever and ever or until i decide to strip them and go with the silver i should have in the first place?

I think that you should go for it Cliff - dare to be a little different.

You seem to have got the refurb bug, so crack on and produce some gold spiders.

Worst case scenario - they don't work. In which case (as you will have already done the hard work), you rub them down and respray silver.

I quite like red and gold :)

If you like it, go for it

I always like white and red , i personlly dont like the gold but as with most things it a personal thing!

This thread needs a poll....

I was actually hugely surprised at how easy it was!!

and given how bad the wheels that came off were they are good for nothing until i refurb them!

nor could i be bothered to keep them clean :D

would this be a bad end result? (oval shaped rear wheel not included! :giggle:)

Give gold a chance, especially as it hasn't been done before.

Yeah that would confirm it for me the ferbie dosnt suit it. i agree white would be a pain to clean but then im a bit a of a freak i love spending my free time polishing. :nerd:

I don't think the Furby suits gold sorry

I like that

Do the wheels gold, vinyl wrap the lower part of the car white (from the rubbing strips down) and you'll have a classic Lotus look

That would look cool B)

I'd go bronze - Sepang Bronze from BMW is an awesome colour :)

Not anymore, lol. I tried it though :)

Afterall, they are only a set of wheels, wheels can be changed and resprayed, etc

Are you getting inspiration from a certain Briskodian who has a Black Octy? :dull:

Gold on Black - let the debate begin

I think what looks very cool on a Red car is Black wheels with a red rim. B)

Golf wheels on red cars look cool but make sure the whole wheel is gold, don't go doing the spokes or inner spokes a different colour as that looks messy IMO.

I have to admit, I prefer a gunmetal grey personally but gold looks pretty good. :)

Few photoshops from my Ibiza FR's old wheels...

And what I actually went for...

Personally I think you should have gone for a grey sort of colour :)

What colour is that last pic as i want?

Audi dolphin grey?

It was infact Pearl Grey from Nissan iirc - had green pearl in the paint, really looked amazing in the sunlight!

Sorry to go off topic - Big Jase, here are some more pictures of other bits I painted that Pearl Grey/Green.

OK just to bump this back to the top I am falling out of love with my black wheels.

I love my spiders cos of the intricate shapes but the black just blends it all together with no definition.

The guys who sold me all the spray paint for the black do have silver on the shelf which kinda makes sense but they also have a few shades of gold.

One being Ford Solar Gold which via the power of Google was used my a guy with a Jeep on DW

Is gold a dreadful idea?

You all know I've been going on about gold for ages, just wish I had more cash..THeres always something more important unfortunately or my car would look quite different (it's stock)..

Gotta love Photoshop, though ;)
