My Skud missile

Featured Replies

Hi just picked up my new vrs today couple of options (cruise, mfsw, white wheels+ black roof)

I signed up a little while ago but picked it up today ordered on the 27th of jan and it was ready for me last friday, so there is hope for those in the black hole lol.

First of all i cannot believe how refined and how visciuosly quick it is.

DSG took a little bit of getting used to as this was my first auto and i made a complete tit of myself pulling out of the dealership but oh well,

had so many glances at it and compliments so im chuffed to bits with it.

Got some coils on the way soon so should be slammed by the end of next month.

I was looking at them but there just not low enough im looking at weitec's there basically kw's but a little bit cheaper 550 delivered from dpm motorsport.

i test drove some weitecs on a mates ibiza after i had my kws fitted on my polo and honestly could not tell the difference.

Is this confirmed or just rumered? My dealer had never heard about this and they are not available from skoda uk accessories

Nice looking car the green looks good with the white wheels B) :p

Let us all know how you get on with the Eibach springs. I like the look of the vRS when it has been lowered but past experience with aftermarket springs has always been disappointing due to the degradation in ride quality.

If your willing to spend the money the more expensive kits are normally as comfortable my kw's were gr8 on my polo. The only trouble i had was speed bumps well worth a look if money is no object. However avoid bilsteins if you want comfort and never tried any H&R's so cant say but everyone raves about them for a reason i suppose.

I asked the same to JKM who advertised rthis. They couldnt tell me, neither could skoda UK. i think what has probably happened is Eibach probably borrowed a fabia from a skoda dealership and have then said it was skoda authorised

I know I mentioned the eibachs... but even though I think it sits high and looks beter with the lower springs, in my experiance, it has always been that i don't like the car as much when lowered, OR with a decent spring/damper set up.......

i understand why people do it, and I know they can handle better ect ect...

BUT I've been in many cars with adjusted setups, and I dont dispute they may be better on a track, but my car is always my "daily" driver, and I don't want to loose how it feels.

I've never experianced an aftermarket setup I've liked more than the standard setup... (but I don't do many track days!)

I know what you mean there is always a comprimise i just think when it comes to suspension if your gonna change it its better to do it well rather than do it cheap

on the octavia, the eibach springs and koni FSD combo was a smoother ride than stock yet much better control on direction changes etc. I drove a few to compare as well. I had coiloers on mine, and i wouldnt buy coilovers again. I was living in germany when i bought them and they were great. Moved back to the UK and hated it with a passion. Removed them after a month because the roads were that bad.

I will be uprating the springs and dampers at some point, but it wont be coilover the best mod for improving handlings is the Rear ARB a it has zero effect on ride comfort, whilst increasing front end grip buy a huge margin. Plus sits cheap to buy and fit.

Im not a fan of 'slammed' cars tbh. I like lowered cars but ill still go for a good 3-4 finger gap above the tyre

For me, the gap round the wheel has to be even. On the standard vRS there's an obviously bigger gap at the top of the wheel than on either side. Have noticed on the vRS estate the gap seems far more even.

the problem with lowering because of the angle of the suspension, when you lowering the gap around the wheels become uneven. the rear wheel on my octavia was closer tothe rear bumper than the top or front part of the arch. Nothing you can do about it though. I think unless you go nuts you'll be OK though

Great wheels

I will definately get an arb for the rear does The mk1 vrs rarb fit and also who sells them now is it still awesome and jabbasport?

Also how much

Eibach lowering springs + Koni FSDs.

I've had two cars with that setup now, and both had a better ride than factory while handling loads better.

FSDs aren't cheap, mind.

i believe so, techie on here (skoda technician) said they share the same rear beam so any ARB that fits the mk1 furby or mk4 Ibiza or polo should be a direct fit. Whiteline 24mm rear bar is about £150 iirc dfrom awesome-GTI. try damian @ DPM performance. Jabbasport do a 23mm bar but its quite expensive

Hi I know many of you may dissaprove but I fitted a chav valve to mine last night well the forge spacer. Didnt let it cool down enough so consequently burned my fingers but oh well.

I actually think it sounds really good its not intrusive and doesnt go off at stupid times either.

It is only really loud when you give it the beans and the rest of the time its subtle enough not to make you look a c*ck.

Would definately recommend to anyone who likes the sound and doesnt want to be a total chav lol

depends on your idea of subtle i guess. I was given one on my octavia, fitted it, realised it sounded like a bus venting off its air brakes, and made me look like a tool when pootling around town.

Took it back off at the first opportunity

I was wary at first i saw you post about it before and thought id give it a few days to see if i liked it, but on the fabia Ive found its not as silly as I thought it would be.

I know what you mean about the bus though lol but at the minute im enjoying the novelty.

Also occasionally you get a fluttery sound which reminds of the wastegate on a tuned porsche gt2 I saw at donnington and that always brings a smile to my face.
