I want to lower my car.. where do I start?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Here is a brief guide to the first thing you will want to do - edit a pic to make your car lower, either for appearance sake or thinking about that planned suspension upgrade:

This will be done in Jasc Paintshop Pro, ver 7.04, but others will be similar.

Let's find an image to start with, we'll take this "superb" shot (fig1)

Then we'll use the freehand selection tool, highlighted in fig2.

In the "tool options" I find "point to point" easies, with a feathering of 1 and antialiasing turned on.

Starting at a corner near the wheelarch, make your way along the chassis, over the wheels (fig3)

Then work out from the edge of the car to the edge of the pic - try to use a line on cobbles or wall or at least parallel to any features, this will hide the "tear" better. You can then run along the edge of the image and back round to the start point (fig4)

When joined, you will get a flashing dotted line, move your cursor over the car and you will get a crosshead arrow, simply click and drag the car down slowly to the desired position. You will now have a border along the top, the depth of which will be dependant on how much you have lowered the car - use the image crop tool to select a smaller area and use "SHIFT+R" to crop the image (fig5)

You then should be left with something like the image attached.

Feel free to post your first efforts or questions below..

Hello.

You may or may not be aware that I did these a long time ago to demonstrate to a owner what his Fabia vRS that he was running on Octavia vRS 17" alloys might look like, if he was to lower it.

Suffice to say I have clean forgotten who that was, but their car was mint.

Here are the pictures anyway...

After

I think the Fabia vRS looks great without the gorgeous 17" alloys, but they add something that it is missing running on 16". With the (fake) lower too, it looks like sex.
