Bulkhead

Featured Replies

Hi guys any ideas in how to get behind dashboard got a new stereo that came with a magnetic dab aerial not putting on roof will look stupid plan to route cable through bulkhead to engine bay and stick to the inner wing or similar location to avoid looking like a taxi driver lol.

If you take the glove box off (easy!), there is a grommet from the engine bay which leads in to there. I fed my amps power cable through there.

I'll see if I can get a picture of where it is when I get home, unless someone else gets there first :-)

It might, might be easier for you to go out via the fuse box (drivers end of the dashboard), and up the A pillar? I'd guess better for signal too.

If i go out fuse box and up a piller the aerial wud b visiable as i guess ur thinking is to put it on roof i wud like to hide it as it's unsightly and wud scratch paint and inevitable fall off help much appreciated tho cheers fellas

If you want to go in to the engine bay (though I think I may have misunderstood the question judging by TriggerFish's post!)

Or I have! I was just thinking you could run the ariel up there instead of by the engine bay.

I've got glovebox off(easy as stated:)) but can't see how to ger access to said bulkhead grommet any ideas?

Hi Matt,

Let me get this straight you want to hide a magnetic DAB aerial under the bonnet !

Not a good idea the DAB signal is not as good as FM so you would not pick up many radio stations if any

Are you able to feed the wire through from outside to inside instead? It'd be easier that way around ;-) That's how I did it with that power cable...

You might want to rethink under the bonnet anyway though if the above is correct B)

That was my thoughts too. To get good reception you want it as high as possible and away from any electrical equipment

I've done that one too... it's a royal PITA unless I am missing some trick.

Put the blowers on full and feel around up there for airflow.... I think I posted about that too.

I can't remember how I did it. I think you basically have to find where the little bit of pipe is by feeling around for air, shove the entire hose up there and try and fit it back on with one hand. All I remember is that it was not easy.

cannot find any rough ideas? behind stereo or behind air bag?

next issue is somehow the function on the electric window where they go all the way down has stopped working! and the stereo make a big click through the speakers and amp aint even working!

Behind air bag / passenger dash bit sorry. There's a gap underneath (with glovebox off ) nearer the right hand side from what I remember. Smaller hands will fit!

amp started working after re-earthing it.

window issue sorted itself out! very strange. but even after disconnecting live from battery the power light was on. I'm wondering with the remote cable is connected to the perminant live feed and not the ignition live feed hense when ignition goes off it kills power to amp!

any ideas guys! please help a noob!
