Poorly Yeti

On the way back from a local seaside resort on Saturday I had a load of warning lights appear on the dashboard, Epc, esp, tyre pressure monitor and the engine light along with a warning about needing a workshop. Called Skoda assist (RAC) who sent someone out to have a look, it took 2 hrs for someone to arrive apparently there was only 1 patrol for Cardiff and Bridgend. THe patrol diagnosed a misfire on no1 cylinder but couldn't fix it so an hour or so later was recovered home on a flatbed. Seems like it could have been a duff set of plugs but I will have to wait until tuesday when the car can be taken to the dealers for investigation. Fair play to Skoda Assist they kept checking up on me and even arranged a free hire car over the phone. :'( :'( :'(

Sounds like the 1.2 TSI strikes again. Same thing happened with my Occy 1.2 TSI Auto. Happened twice (first time in Cornwall, on holidays from Ireland. Big thanks to the guys in Skoda Plymouth). After the second time, brought it back to my dealer and told them to keep it. Now driving Yeti 2l Diesel. Seems there may be a problem with the little TSI.

Funnily enough got back from Devon the day before do you think there's something in the air down there? think the problem may just be duff plugs as the RAC guy had a good spark from the plug cap.

They're not Bosch are they by any chance? I've had Duff ones in the past.

NGK's seem to be the plug of choice for older BMW's.

Said NGK and VW on the plug body nothing else no numbers etc. makes it kind of difficult to find a replacement unless you are psychic or have the Skoda parts list.

You know that was a joke don't you????

You live in Wales, I in Cornwall, some up north and others in Ireland.

We all get stuck with the same label every now and then and I think it's funny.

If we can't take the P out of each other then what have we got left.

Ps. I'm proud of where I live and I love Wales as well. Think you've got better roads for driving than we have.

Can't wait to bring our monster up there when we get her.

Dom.

Dealer told me it was a 'Sporadic Engine Fault' whatever that means. Considering the waived the fee for running the diagnostic and valeted the car before sending me on my way, it felt like something more than plugs. But I only drive the car, what happens under the bonnet is generally someone elses problem. Both times my lights came on I had just refuelled and driven about 30 miles. May be a coincidence.

Loved Cornwall, apart from the windy little roads. Was getting claustrophobia after three days. Loved Wales, very tall country. Next stop, Scotland, even taller country. As for roads, we don't have them here, just bits of tarmac between the ditches, Romans never got this far west :D

Any update on the fault?.

On Wheeler Dealers last night they had a misfire on no1 cylinder on the Saab 9-3 they were renovating, turned out to be a duff ignition coil.

Virtually identical fault and diagnosis with my Yeti 1.2 DSG (12k miles) - the wife was driving through a remote part of rural Aberdeenshire on Wednesday when the car started to judder and four warning lights came on i.e. EPC, TCS/ESP, TPM and Control System for Exhaust. We called Skoda Assist who arranged for RAC to attend. The RAC man spent about an hour investigating but he couldn't fix it at the roadside.

The car was towed to the Skoda dealer in Aberdeen and a hire car was organised. The problem has now been diagnosed as a faulty HT lead. Unfortunately the leads are on back order and Skoda UK can't provide a firm delivery date but could be up to 2 weeks!

Interestingly an internet search of Skoda/VAG faults involving this particular combination of warning lights has only produced one match and it was also a plug/lead problem.

Whilst it is unfortunate that this has happened Skoda Assist's service can't be faulted.

As a newbie here and finding it a friendly spot of super keen Yeti owners of which I am planning to join, I find this scary.

2 weeks for a HT lead? On back order?

Does that really mean you are unable to go and buy a HT lead?

I'm no expert in car parts but I guess non-OEM leads would be available from Halfords etc but I suspect the Skoda dealer can only use approved parts. There is no immediate availability and they can give no indication of when they will be supplied. There is some incentive on Skoda to fix asap as they are paying for a hire car whilst mine is off the road. Perhaps others can clarify if this is typical/normal?
