Bolero Radio Volume problem?

Featured Replies

On a few occasions recently I have been sitting in the car, without the engine running, listening to the radio and just enjoying my new Yeti. If I then start the car the volume goes very low and has to be turned up high. Turning the radio off and on again doesn't resolve the problem but the next time I restart the engine I am deafened!

I have set the start up volume using the setup and it seems to stay at the stored level.

I must admit that the manual(and the car handbook) is one of the worst I have ever come across so I might be misreading something.

somewhere in the setup/volume settings there will be a start volume setting. there is on the columbus anywayemoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Perplexing..... so you DID set the start up volume and then after a glitch like this it starts instead with a deafening volume?! Weird. And then the next time after that the normal start up volume is back? Not experienced it so can't help any more alas.

That's about it Johann, although it has also happened a couple of times when coming out of reverse it won't come back to normal volume.

Having had this problem yesterday I turned the volume up to a level that was comfortable, all was well until I stalled the engine in traffic, (still getting used to it) upon restarting it blasted out, adding to my sense of panic as I was in heavy traffic at the time!

I'm going to try it back to factory settings and then go through the setup again.

I hate intermittent faults, they were the bain of my life during an earlier occupation as a TV repair technician.

Sounds intermittent and not normal. If you can't correct it by resetting it is a trip to the dealer by the sounds of it! Good luck!

Got the same sort of issue with mine. Switch the ignition on and radio comes on normal volume, start the engine and the volume drops. Normally corrected by changing radio stations. Also had similar issues when reversing, volume drops for sensors but when taken out of reverse doesn't return to normal level, again corrected by switching radio stations. Have learnt to live with it at the moment but I think it needs looking at.

I did try pulling the fuse to try and reboot the radio but no joy.

Yes I think I have the same problem - but only intermittently !. I think I will wait a bit and see if it gets any worse ( i.e.more regular).

Strange problem though ?.

Yes mine is only intermittent seems to be linked to anything that causes the volume to reduce ie starting engine, selecting reverse. I think it happens more when radio selected to AM stations.

Have you tried disabling the Speed Sensitive Volume setting to see if that's causing problems?

I have to admit that I've not tried anything since my original post.

Been too busy enjoying the car so far. B) It's going back to Allams tomorrow to have a towbar fitted so I'll mention it whilst I'm there.

Fred

I tried turning it OFF but it doesn't have that option so I turned it right down. Bingo. It worked.

Turned engine ON and OFF and radio worked as it should.
