SD CArds in Bolero Radio

Featured Replies

Picked up the new Yeti yesterday from Isleworth. Then a smooth handover and equally smooth drive back home. Whilst waiting for the arrival of the beast, I have put a wide range of music onto a 16GB SDHC card. All the tracks are MP3 and stored in albums. When I put the card into the SD slot in the Bolero this afternoon and 'Card Error' appeared on the touch screen. My card works perfectly in my iMac so, what could be the problem? The manual does not specify SD or SDHC card or which level (mine's level 4) is suitable. There appears to be nothing wrong with the card so, any suggestions out there (preferably related to the above problem)?

I've got a 32gb SDHC card in mine, works perfectly. I don't really speak 'techno geek', but I wonder if the formatting for I Mac is compatible? My MP3 files were all loaded up from a Windows PC. Maybe somebody here will know if that is an issue?

I believe that you MUST use FAT32 as filesystem for your SD-card.

It works fine for me.

Then again the Mac/PC issue might be the culprit ...

I use a MacBook Pro with no issues.............

The Bolero doesn't like some SD cards.......

So much for my theory then

My mac does put a load of other stuff on there which maybe hidden on when on the mac, and it won't play them, and says incorrect format, but it then works its way down to the readable files which it plays fine.

The incorrect format may be because the files are protected, did you buy some of your tunes from iTunes?

If so, you can only put those on a cd.

Dom.

no. they are all unprotected, they are duplicate names of the ones that play.... but start with a _

The problen could be something to do with how you originally formatted the card. I understand that when you format using an imac, it gives you the choice to format using Mac OS Extended (Journaled) for use on Macs or MS-DOS (FAT/FAT32) to share the SD card with both Macs and PCs or digital cameras.

See, I knew there'd be someone on here proficient in technobabble :giggle:

It does indeed. If I even formatted it I would have used the fat32 option...

Thanks RH, you were right, I used a Bytestor card first and no joy, changed it to a Transcend and - bingo! And I'm chuffed to find how easy it is to browse and select albums and tracks. Cheers

I used iTunes to convert tracks to MP3, then drag & drop to put them onto the SD card (directly into the root directory) and everything now works as it should. It certainly beats carrying a load of CDs with the limited storage space in the Yeti.
