can u remap to 190bhp with a uprated clutch

Featured Replies

hi

my fabia vrs was remaped to 176bhp and 305 ft torque then I put a performance air filter in that increase the power a bit more.

Now my clutch has gone. With a uprated clutch can it then be remap to 190bhp?

With the turbo be alright with that much power and would a sports exhaust be a good idea?

thanks

I doubt the standard turbo would last long at 190bhp. You are already pushing it quite hard.

With an uprated clutch you could go way beyond 190bhp. If you drive carefully a standard clutch will handle youre current power.

Its the torque that kills the clutch. Aparently the standard one will cope with 300lbft. Some people go beyond that figure without problems.

I have a Sachs Performance Clutch which is rated to 400lb/ft torque (currently running 328lb/ft) - which should be good for all but the highest of power mods - certainly good upto stage 2 hybrid remap. Currenlty running 186bhp on standard turbo but do have decat downpipe and induction kit. Make sure you do all hardware mods before you remap to get best out of it.

Will at "performace torque" has tuned mine to protect the turbo as much as possible and says it should be fine (touch wood).

Give him a call for some advice - good bloke and knows what he's talking about - based in Wolverhampton if thats any help

cheers

A standard turbo is only good for around 160-180bhp (roughly)

thanks for the advise. Have to think about it.

Also today i look at the turbo and there is oil on the outside, is this bad, does it mean i need a new turbo as well?

Haha lol

Doubt it will go much higher than mid 170's

Pd130 runs out of puff

ive got 190 at 1.44 bar boost on the stock turbo and 327lbs of torque clutch is fine altho i would drive carefully. thats not a high boost figure either as the stock map was 1.32 bar boost, some peoples boost are pushing 1.6 on the stock turbo. i also had it on the rollers elsewhere as i was skeptical of the power, it was 190.1 on the dyna pack hub dyno which is supposed to be much more accurate and it was 196 on the rollers. also have a friend who is 197bhp on the dyna pack and has been for over a year now

Sorry bud but theres no way thats a true 196bhp!!

I was only getting that when i first got my hybrid 150 rollered

Must be some dodgy rr's in ireland me thinks!!

Your turbo would have gone pop ages ago if that were genuine figures tbh. You'll struggle to get 180bhp on a stock turbo

Matt

Sorry, no as I've said I've had the car on two different rollers and the lowest was 190.1bhp, I don't doubt the power output tbh as I know a guy with 170bhp and I'm comfortably quicker, not to mention quicker than a type r at work with 200+ bhp, had run ins with all of the last three generation type r's a d I'm faster than all three. Wel we will just have to wait and see if my turbo goes pop then won't we, don't hold your breath

Cant see it im afraid!!

That turbo will just not push those figures... Christ they struggle to cope with 130bhp

I think your wallet will get a raping very shortly

Hope not, but it's only running 1.44 bar boost so isn't pushing too hard, will let yous know if and when lol

Congratulations managing to run Hybrid 130 power on a stock turbo  In fairness, rollers can run such different powers some over, some under.

What did the car make at the fly?

Actually no idea tbh, agree that rr's vary in their readouts but for me the two are fairly close

Get it on a dyno dynamics

Ill eat my pants if it makes more than 180

Look up torque tronix and look at the dyno hub they use, there's a section on their website about it, it pulled 190.1 on that, the lower more accurate reading, that's what it was mapped on.

Its just not possible... Well it may be for around 1k miles until it goes kaboom!

Even at a measly 173.5bhp on the stock smic i could heatsoak it within 1 fast run

So it may be 190 for 10 secs but you'll be heatsoaked back down to 130bhp / limp mode in no time

where's that damn popcorn smiley when you need it eh? :wonder:

Maybe it's not running a standard turbo ?

Is it the same hub dyno as this ?

That gave 270bhp on a stage 2 hybrid :D

Lolz

I'm sick of people on this forum saying can't do this can't do that lol the car is 190 like it or lump it, at the end of the day you didn't map it so you don't have the first idea lol ps car has done over 1000 miles since map, also any car will lose power driven hard, personally I dont notice it cause I wouldn't really rag it, this is a classic case of you Jason lol if you haven't done it no one has done it lol

Yeh that's it the car ran 127.8 hp as standard so it wasn't reading high to begin with

Just LOL!!!!!!
