Someone (I can't remember who) was going to drop their sump and have a look at there oil pickup. Has this happened?

I am due another oil change soon (plus cambelt as now 183k - I was avoiding changing it over the cold winter months!), so I am thinking maybe I should allocate a weekend to car tinkering at some point soon.

Of particular interest to me would be the 110 on variable servicing, as that is how I run mine.

You picked the right time to ask. Have just replaced one on an AHF at the owner's request. Mileage was 238k miles

I've not seen any AHFs with oil pickup problems, despite the fact it uses the same pickup as the petrol models

That pickup looks pretty clean to me - says someone who is not familiar with such things....

So would you say that changing the pickup one a diesel was less important. Any idea if the AHF was on fixed or variable?

It was on fixed, despite the high mileage. The owner did his own oil changes at 10k mile intervals.
