there the codes it read when the engine was runnni and when it was not runnin the reason for the code reader is that on the last bank holiday monday i done a service myself which i had no probs with then on the thursday the car started to sound very ruff had no power at all would not get up a hill so got the car back it needs the head gasket change as it linkin both sides i was told i could have the wrong oil in as the oil presser switch light has come on but for 9 years it always had 10w50oil could anyone help me with the codes and point me in the right director plzz goin to be orderin my head gasket tomozzz and a new oil press switch too

One more question are the head gaskets easy to do on the 8v skoda fabia i have a manual and it dont say anything about takin the removein the timing chain is that right as the past on my non skoda cars u had to make sure the cambelt was all on its makers.

Sorry about all the questions just want to try and cover everything not only that am missing not use my skoda i brought a Rover 600 to get about in but the tax on that runs out the end off the month

cheers

jo

Before you do anything I'd suggest investigating those, obviously the heater and the brake light are minor concerns but I'd look into the others as a priority. Best of luck with fixing!

has anyone had the same fault codes if so how did u fix them i got to replace my head gasket do i need any specail tools for the job that i will have to buy

10mm allen/hex key socket for the head bolts. I would renew the bolts too. Make sure to keep the push rods in order and put them back the same order they came in, use an old cornflakes packet and push them through and number. No need to touch timing chain at all, making it relatively easy to change on this engine.

Engine start blocked by immobiliser code - this can happen when the battery drains I believe. So if the battery has been dud and replaced, and otherwise the car will start and run without cutting out - clear this code and it shouldn't come up again.

17549 sounds like the Map sensor. Although TBH if the headgasket is that bad, it could be just reading a fault there due to compression loss. Same may be true for 16825 and 16556.

I'd clear the codes, replace the headgasket, check the lambda sensor fuse, and go from there.

The immobiliser is integrated into the dash panel, with a transponder integrated into the key.

It's fuse 9 I think, a small 10a one.
