DRL's 'lost'

Gizmo

Recommended Posts

I have been trying to get rear DRL's to come on (at the same time as the fronts) without success, however I have now come across a stumbling block:

I re-coded 09 Byte18 to:

1B Light Setup: Skoda Superb(3T) Rest of World (ROW) and when that did not work I returned it back to 00 (where it was originally) I followed the procedure on VWVortex For those with Byte 18 issues... as pointed out to me by Dana (Ross-Tech) but to no avail, I can re-code the car to other models/regions and do get partial results, i.e. if I code it to:

03 Light Setup: VW Golf (5K) North American Regions (NAR)

Then I can get the rear lights to come on as DRL's but still nothing for the front, I have checked the bulbs and they are OK, even done measuring blocks on them and nothing, and yes I have switched on/off/on etc in the MFD

I can't find any fuses for the DRL's on the Superb (MY11 November 2010 build), but doubt that this would be the problem anyway as I only lost the DRL's after the coding.

Currently 09 is:

Update, Dana has come up trumps with this

The 00 coding is basically a mask - so you never actually know what the coding is from the factory as it is hidden, it turns out the OE coding for the Superb with separate DRL's (next to the fog lights) is 31.

Once again many thanks Dana.

So you've now got rear DRL's?

Cheers

BIG Nick :)

Not quite, I could get rears and no fronts, rear fog lights and no fronts but now I am back to std.

Now I know the correct coding (not hidden) I may now just have a play to see if I can get both front and rears :giggle:

This happened to me but sorted by dealer> Nice to know the "correct" code

Hi Guys!

Martin, I updated the results in the VW Vortex so far: For those with Byte 18 issues... (MK6) I was going to ask you privately (via email) to try another setting, but I'll go ahead and ask openly since this is the best location for the info. Please try coding Byte 18 from 1C (which has corrected the complete lack of DRLs) to 31 Hex | 00110001 and let me know the results.

Nick, I haven't forgotten about you but I am concerned about any more experimental coding since the dealer had to resolve this the last time.

Sinclair, My apologizes in advance but I do not remember the details about this vehicle. Did we email or chat on the VW Vortex? Post up a complete Auto-Scan or send it via email if you prefer.

I didn't think to ask Ross-Tech about my c**k up so took the car back to the dealer and pleaded innocent. They said it had lost the coding and reset it for me All working now I was just saying it is nice to know the "correct" code if I am playing again

I got a tick last week on what to put on BYTE-18 so will not need canbus LEDS on the DRL.

(I hope, You can understand English.

If You have an Ross-Tech vag com interface, You do not need to use any resistors or any other monkey solutions in Your DRL Lamps.

You just simply need to code byte 18 as Octavia RS Facelift light setup in byte 18. This will allow You to prevent from bulb fault code on dashboard.

In RS version, there are original LED modules installed

The correct coding to do it is 33 or 5B (HEX), depends on the CECM version)

Can anyone confirm this.

Pass but my car is a Superb, so no vRS option.

From what I understand it says that the octavia VRS version with DRL LEDS are coded 33 or 5B(hex) soo it won´t show bulb error.

On the Superb it must be diferent, or maybe not.

Today I have coded the car to 31 Hex | 00110001 (which is the correct code, as I found out today with a lot more testing that 1C does not put on the rear sidelights in the fog light position)

I also experimented with

1A -1F and 01 - 70 with no other correct combinations apart from 31.

Not sure TBH as I have CANBUS LED's in mine so I can't check that coding.

Thanks for the update! It seems as if 1C is a Superb Sedan, so we were close but not correct. 31 should be a Superb Wagon/Combi ant this should finally be restored back to stock.

If you happen to notice anything else, aside from the rear sidelights, please let me know.

Hi Alberg,

Any confirmation for this ? Octy 2 vrs with led drls

I'm having some difficulty with coding something sensible into this "write only" byte.

This was the email I received and from this I also have read on other forums same values.

I haven´t tried it yet, too chicken I guess :giggle:

When using VCDS to code is it really necessary after pressing "DO IT" to:

switch off ignition

remove key

close vcds s/w

remove vcds cable

get out of car

lock doors

wait 2 minutes

unlock doors

get in

insert key

turn key to 1st position

reconnect vcds cable

run vcds s/w

reprog byte 18 with 00

do the whole lot above again ?

No, you only need to do that if you intend to put the 00 'mask' back on (which will not change any coding) so for example when it goes into a dealers the codes will look unchanged.

I went from 01 to 70 checking all of the variations without doing any of the above and each change was saved I did however do it to go back to 00.

Yes, You have wrong car ID in byte 18. 1B is Superb without Xenon. Change byte 18 (HEX)from 1B to 31(Superb 3T Combi with Xenon and separate halogen DLR) and Your problem does not exist more.

Thanks, but if you read the whole thread you will see in post #2 that I found out the code was 31 a few days after I posted this (June last year)

If you know of a code to get DRL's front AND rear for a RHD car with xenon's then that would be useful

Welcome to Briskoda anyway.

Does anybody know what is the correct car ID HEX code for a Superb 3T Combi (2011) with halogen and separate halogen DLR?

The 31 (with Xenon) and 1B, 1C not working

I've been trying to find a way to do this (as well as get the instrument cluster to light up during the day without the side/headlights on) on the vRS but to no avail.
