your vRS II 0-60 times...

Featured Replies

ok, just installed a natty app on my phone to do timing measurements based on GPS...

skoda claim 0-60 in 7.2 seconds, autoexpress had it in 6.5 seconds...

my car is standard, will try some runs later and post up the results!

anyone else with measuring equipment please join in! (and it doesn't have to be vRS times, I', interested in any model if compaired to "stock" figures  )

I'd be interesed to see after several goes if the results are consistant sharkrider.

Nice :)

Let us know how it does, mine has only done 86 miles so i'm not 0-60'ing it yet lol

right, I had a 2 tries, going too and from work, and (frustratingly) on both didn't reach 60mph! lol... I backed off at an indicated 70, but its so frantic, the app wasn't catching up! it reported selected speed not reached, 58mph, and 59 mph! lol...

I'm going to bed now, but will try later today ,and this time go up to an indicated 80 ! lol...

1)it was 3.4 seconds to 30 mph.....: slightly damp, all electronics on, esso 97RON fuel, sport mode, 12 celcius.conti sport contact 2's near the german wear limit of 3 mill.. my fronts are on 4 mill..

I will keep updating the list as conditions, atttempts, fuel, gearbox modes ect ect change

edit for rich: BMW M Meter, free at the app store, you can program it for quarter miles any speed limit, it shows graphs of g-force (lateral and accelerative ect) pretty good,if it works! lol..

I had a play with these my Octy VRS tdi I got a best of 9.8 iirc and my Evo 6.5 i've been timed at 4 second dead in the latter so i dont hold a great deal of value in the data, however the dynolicious app seemed to perform well in 1/4 mile tests but 0-60 on the road isnt easy i know the magazine tests are very hard on the car as well

havent tested dynolicios , but a friend of mine is using this one , its around 30€ on the store + 120€ obd to WIFI interface.

works fine on his BMW M3

yes, I think the GPS just takes a little time to react recording your speed, much as watching the delay in the speed reading on your sanav ect... anyway, we'll see when I eventually get a 0-60 time! lol...

I was going to say these phone apps wont be what you'd call exactly accurate, sat nav is generally more accurate than your car speedo but its still a couple of MPH out in most cases and slow to react.

I know auto express timed a hatch for their Performance Car of the Year 2010 test at 6.4 secs to 60; I know my estate certainly feels that quick. I think the Fabia vRS is little or no slower than the Polo, its figures are probably slightly dressed down to make the Polo look like the cheaper and more premium proposition.

Only way to get proper times is to strap proper timing kit to your car; best left to the press I think :-)

polo figures are 0-60 and the fabias are 0-62 iirc.

Ben timed mine using the speed block and time stamps on VCDS and consistently managed sub 6 seconds. not sure of the exact time though

Hi Sy,

Pretty sure both VW and Skoda's factory figures are to 62, Polo 6.9 and Fabia 7.3. Can't see how the Polo is any quicker real world though.

Your sub six sec runs must be with your stage 2 map though right? Cant see how a standard car would do 60 in less than 6 secs.

Cheers Pal :)

i did a test yesterday, with pretty bad start up and got around a little bit under 7 seconds, road was a little wet and didnt push on full gas.

yeah thats with it mapped. sub 14second 0-100 as well.

Well, after a bit of experimenting, I'm giving up! lol... as some have said I can't get any accuracy out of it...

For example, my best effort was 0-50 in 7 secnds dead, and guess what the 0-60 time was? 20.8 seconds! :wonder:

it just can't update fast enough to be accurate, and all I'm doing is wasting fuel!

on the plus side, I still always get just a slight chirp from the tyres (even when wet) and it launches perfectly every time

VCDS logs are a waste of time sub 6 seconds 0-60's are laughable imo

Hi Richf, just thought id point out that Sy's car is stage 2 mapped making about 230 - 235ps, its not standard

I'm under 6 seconds in a mkI Diesel VRS with a slightly fluffed gearchange, so I have no doubt a tweaked mkII can do it.

Video here.

Although doing 60mph in under 6 seconds and then going on to 100mph in under 14 seems a bit long.

I'd expect it to be quicker to 100mph if it's so quick off the line, baring in mind you've got to get it off the line for the 0-60 which is not the strong point of a front wheel drive car.

210hp not 230hp

Are they? There are at least 5 guys on Seatcupranet with the Ibiza Cupra @ stage 1 hitting 0-60 in under 6 seconds with video footage and certification from GTI international to back it up. Theres also another guy with a stripped out stage 1 Ibiza who gets sub 5 seconds, again with vids and certification from the proper timing equipment.

The 0-60 sprint is kinda quick in a Fabia, not alot off weight to pull along!

Usually it's not a strong point for a FWD, but that is when the car is overpowered.

Add up that the horsepower you got in your car is there already in 1:st gear.

I haven't checked the time how quick mine is, but I've uploaded a vid on youtube and if you count the time it takes from 0-100 km/h (counted with Sony Vegas), that is sub-6 aswell.

Dave,

Next time I see you, I'll jump in with you and use the app on my Nokia X6 and this one updates really quick and uses GPS

30 hp = either 1/2 second or more than one full second off the 0-60 time depending on the source!!

Sorry I dont buy I drove one this week and was distinctly underwhelmed , didnt feel quick to me at all nippy yes but certainly not 6 second 0-60's its too much of a porker at 1300kgs it weighs around the same as my Evo 6 !!

That power to weight would put it in the mid 15/s in the 1/4 mile at around 90 mph even 210hp would be high 14's at less than 100mph yet claims of 100mph in 14 seconds are made

Sorry dont buy it plenty of online calculators will back me up I'd rather believe them than wild internet claims , sorry

Try this one for example
