Removal of the back box from exhaust. Does nothing except make more noise.

It's removing the back box and replacing with a straight through pipe.

Yup, I was behind Phil on a little drive after a meet last week, and his does sound pretty good when he's giving it some.

Sat behind an Aston Martin DB9 yesterday (not for long), when the guy gave it some beans it sounded brilliant.

The Moggy Traveler has a stainless single baffle exhaust, on over run, its sounds like a trumpeter after a really hot curry

To elaborate on the medical connotations of "mufflerectomy", it's quite simply the removal of the muffler

just a straight pipe, did it on mine and im going back to standard pipe, waste of time. feelsless powerful, and its just too noisey. Going back to normal backbox with modified tailpipes and decat :) yay

If I ever go down this road I'll be getting a full miltec system.

I have to disagree slightly, there is a weight saving too you know! :D

Also stopped little rust piles on the driveway too - had enough of those days with my old mini!

yes it does save weight as the original back box is unusually heavy, but as others have noticed on here recently, they dont find it as quick. i would have thought the lack of restriction when removing the backbox and cat would have done wonders for how powerful it feels, now i cant wait to get the backbox back on even though its heavier, it seems quicker :/

mine seems all good though ive got a sports cat, i think the trouble arises from the decat and straight pipe

That's what I noticed about Ross' car.
