Induction kit

Featured Replies

I no there is alot of disputes about which one to go for but I have done a bit of research and wondered if the BMC kit or the new pipercross vic intake are any good? Basically I want some noise and if I get a bit more go bonus. Also were cab i get hold of a decent cai system links would be a bonus. Thanks guys

If you want noise you need a cold air intake (CAI).

ABD are probably the most expensive - but they are excellent quality!

eBay specials are highly recommended, a lot of folk on here are running them!

Hi Steve

Yeah I was looking at buying a pipercross filter and fitting to to a eBay cai pipe?

Hi Steve

Yeah I was looking at buying a pipercross filter and fitting to to a eBay cai pipe?

I've got an ebay CAI on mine and replaced the crappy filter that comes with it for a Jetex one. I went with the ebay one because i wasn't sure how low in the bumper the filter would sit.

I chopped about 3 inches off the pipe to raise the filter so it sits just under the headlights. I didn't fancy doing chopping up an expensive bit of kit (I was worried about the Crappy weather we have here submerging the filter and causing Hydro lock everytime i went through a deep puddle :o )

YESSS true mate I went out today in the rain an was a little concerned at how low it would go. I was planning on doing the same thing. I was also thinking if i got a BMC I could route the intake to behind the grill? Hummm decisions decisions lol

Pipercross are garbage! I lost 5bhp on my old st when I fitted a pipercross filter and I'd never buy one again!

The ebay cai are good value for money but I'd swap the filter to a k&n one

Will a piper cross muller my maf aswell due to the oil type filter. This is why iwas looking at the BMC but don't no how loud it would be and how much turbo noise I would get

I've never had issues with my piperx filter.

Carbonio are another popular intake pipe.

As said though, get a good quality filter for it, the cheap ones are ****!

I went for a big universal K&N cone filter around 15"x9".

Cheers guys for the replys and comments I'm most likely going for an eBay jobby with a decent filter. Then it's off to get a compbrake recirc valve and a Hoffman centre section exhaust so should sound pretty sweet.

I have a CAI off ebay and it was fine but its now off the car as it dropped my mpg to 25/26 from 30/31 :-) 1st week i had it on i was loving the sound and getting a bit heavy with foot and hit 18 mpg :-))

Holy crap jack that's pritty bad going. I might just use it for every day use but put standard filter set up for long distance I.e continental runs to hollad and France. Do you fancy selling me the cai pipe?

I would not have thought you would get the car that low to water. The CAI kit pipe does sit behind bumper but in the air above the lower bumper plastic cover. Maybe winter time i may take mine off for the snow and crap though.

Actually pipercross are ok on the Skoda, I had a ST24 with a pipercross cone on and that was poor. But as we are talking about not directly bolting a cone to the MAF the pipercross,Apexi,K&N cones fitted to a cold air pipe routed behind the bumper are good filters.

No it should be ok. All the oiled panel filters should be fine and any pre oiled CAI will also be fine. Obviously not sprayed/soaked in oil but to the recommended level. There is too much hype from the subaru sites regarding MAF issues
