Key not locking doors!

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I got out of the car this morning and clicked the key to open the back door, nothing happened.

So I then put the key in the front door and turned (In both directions) and nothing happened?

After a bit of faffing with keys and fob, I got in the front seat and managed to wrestle my laptop out of the back footwell, then the alarm went off.

I then couldnt switch the alarm off with the key fob! (The battries are ok, as the red light on the key still flashes)

I then got in with the alarm blarring and started the car, this stopped the alarm, so I switched off, closed the door and locked it with the key, (Which worked this time.)

The fob not working has happened to me a few months ago, and I read on here is was a fairly common problem, But what about the key not working in the door? Has this happened to anyone else? And is it something I should be speaking to the dealer about?

Cheers

hehe someone else with that problem. happened to me on the day of pick up! so frustrating, you'll have to go to the dealers and they have to reprogram your keys, takes an hour or so...

what happens is the key loses contact with each of the locks individually, so when you try and lock the door is frequency isnt recognised as this isnt a purely mechanical lock either. right PITA to fixx apparently.

out of interest is your spare working?

Hello Brin. Yes, I have had problems as well since June car pick-up. There is another thread about this recently on Jul 14th if you go back about 3 pages entitled "Central Locking Gremlins". I had trouble getting the doors to lock mostly, then to unlock, then problems unlocking the boot. I click the unlock button but nothing happened. Left it for a 10 mins or so, tried again - it worked! I can't explain it. It hasn't done it for a week or so now, so hope it has settled down (I checked the battery in the key remote which is quite difficult to do without mashing the plastic edges when undoing it). If it does it again, it's straight back to the showroom for them to make it work, having forked out c. £13k for a new car, I expect it to work properly! If this (or is becoming) a known fault, could as many of you as possible respond please, so we can gauge the extent of the problem and get Skoda to sort it out?

Good to know its a Quirk of the car ;)

Its working fine again now, so will leave it till first service in a few months, unless it happens again!
