Chesterfield Area - J30 M1

Featured Replies

Just a quick post on here to recommend a new place for tyres, exhausts and general servicing in the Chesterfield area. Has all the VAG code readers and service reset tools.

Anyway, come mid August the workshop should be fitted out and ready to trade. For anyone around Chesterfield that wants quality work done at a reasonable price, this will be the place to go. I doubt if there will be any frills like courtesy cars, but I am sure collection will be on the cards.

So, who is it you ask??? Well, if you are in Chesterfield ask around about Ian Payne. Ian is a time served mechanic and well known around Chesterfield, especially around those involved with rallying and karting. Ian used to have a unit at the Clock Towers at Staveley many years ago (I used to help him out there back in 1986/7, or just get in his way more like it!). He has been in involved in many successful rally campaigns since then with VRS Motorsport and Gasho Motorsport.

More details to follow soon when Ian has everything up and running, I have had my cars serviced by him for the last 15 years or so, but then again he is my second cousin!

He is a dab hand at DPF removal, and it is only 1 junction down the M1 to Ben@Shark for the remap afterwards!

Where is he going to be located?

A mile or so from J30 - he has a unit somewhere but haven't been over to see him yet - I will get the precise details when Ian is back from his hols.

OK - Ian is about set up and ready and trade now.

He has the tyre fitting gear in place and is starting to stock tyres - anything he hasn't got he can get within the hour.

Workshop is close to being finished as well.

Located within half a mile of J30 of the M1 in a unit on a scaffolding firms site.

For general servicing work, tyres, exhausts etc. feel free to give Ian a call on 07850 376719 and he can give you directions etc.

Don't expect a Kwik-Fit type experience, Ian is a time served mechanic setting up as a 1-man operation for now until trade builds. There will be no fancy waiting room or courtesy cars, just a good job done at the right price.

Let him know you got the details from Andy (his cousin) with the Octavia.

is it on the city scaffolding site?

Good guess bond007 emoticon-0100-smile.gif

I was over there yesterday getting my winter tyres swapped over.

If anyone wants winters fitting or getting in the Chesterfield area give Ian a call - if you know what brand you want he will get you a price and get them in for you.

Keep in mind he is only just setting up the workshop still single handed and is dealing cash at the moment till he gets his card processing machine and internet connection in place.

Let him know Andy sent you and you saw his details on the Skoda forum.

He is worth a shout for cambelt changes as well as tyres and general servicing work.

Another quick bump emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I am over there in the morning to get a service done on mine. The last 18k miles seem to have gone rather quickly - about 10 months!

I will post an update on how he is getting on setting the business up.

I had a problem with my Octavia VRS down to exhaust sensor.

Ian helped me out FOC! car now done another 500 miles without problem!

[was quoted an hour labour to change sensor from Stealers, he changed it in under 10 minutes! - I could probably have done it in same time if I had known where it was on the car]

will be visiting him soon for a service!

(also he is within walking distance of my house!)

Alan

Do we have an address and could I have a quote for new braided hoses fitting and brake fluid change

Give Ian a call on 07850 376719 - let him know you found out about him on the Octavia forum from Andy.

If you know where the McDonalds is near J30, he is across the road from it on the City Scaffolding site.
