upgraded clutch pack !

Featured Replies

Sorry I fell down....

Bookmarked

Has anyone had clutch problems yet with the vRS after tuning?

Looks a bit cheapskate :dull:

Also for the six speed wet box not the seven speed dry box.

Holy moly, they sure as hell know how to charge for stuff xD!

Wasn't APR stating that the clutchpacks was able to cope with way more then 350 nm?

Launch Control:

With Custom-Code's Stage 1 DSG Software, launch control is activated on any vehicle) that did not come equipped with factory launch control.

dream on ...

I think te his right and its for the dsg6. It doesn't mention dsg7, only that the clutch pack contains 7 discs. ie they say the std torque limit of 350nm which is dsg6 figures.

Silly money as well lol

It says compatible with all 1.4 Tsi engines. Are there some with 6 speed dsgs?? Also i thought that stage 2 maps were pushing 350nm. I certainly read that somewhere.

What's the 6 disc kit they do for??

Noticed that but its says to be used in conjunction with their stay 2 dsg maps but they only have dsg6 remaps available,

Maybe. Guna give them a call tomorrow to find out for definate.

Yes the 1.4 Golf GT had a six speed box. The seven speed is a completely different type of clutch set up, as it's dry it looks more like a regular clutch.

What a waste of money, although some idiot will be taken-in here.emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

I'll just wait for the next response to follow.LOL

Well I've spoken to Jbs this morning and i was right with the link being for our 7speed box. They don't currently offer a remap for the dsg7 but it is in the pipeline. also said the upgrade for ours is the same as an upgrade and map for the six speed.

There is a chance of a group buy just need to see how many are interested.

I'm Guna post in the seat and VW forums aswell and hopefully we can get things moving

Get saving people!!

Who makes the clutches then, find out who that is and i guarantee it would knock off at least £2000 from the insane 'crack smoking' price!.

INAtuning are looking into clutches and expect to pay around £1k. I guarantee no one will pay that price. Especially as there is no proof that the clutch is inadequate. It could turn out to be just like on the DSG6 gearbox that the clutch can take over 500lvft of torque without slipping.

Ask Hurdy he was running the std clutch on his golf which had 440hp/510lbft going through the std gearbox and clutch. the only change was the software for the DSG

The standard 7 speed DSG clutch is a LUK item iirc and is tiny.

Remember it's a dry clutch not like the wet clutch pack of the six speed box.

Now I wouldn't mind spending something like £1000 to upgrade the clutch if I knew it was absolutely necessary, but does Stage 2 and above even need it?

Less than a grand is far easier on the wallet compared to nearly £3500!?!

Just for the record - I've never seen or heard of one of the 6 speed wet clutch packs having a problem, never mind slipping! And I've seen them running on 400ft/lb+ cars!
