Yet another slight concern, rattling in tickover?

Featured Replies

Everytime I stop at traffic lights, my Fabia rattles. It certainly isn't a trim issue, it definitely seems to come from the engine area. Yet when the bonnet is open, it sounds fine. Should the 1.2 TSI be whisper quiet when stopped at traffic lights or similar situations?

The 1.2TSi engine is along with all FSi engines fairly noisy. Their characteristic is more diesel like due to there operation, fuel is injected directly into the cylinder meaning a far more violent combustion and a higher compression than regular petrol engines means they can make a fair racket. Add to this the timing chain and lack of engine covers etc they are quite noisy.

However same as always if you are concerned pop it into your local dealer for an opinion.

Go to my thread might be saying bye bye to briskoda, I posted a video of a noise similar to yours, if it is that take it back to dealership

Thanks everyone, booked in at Skoda next Tuesday. They knew about the TSI rattling issue. I've got 3-4 things wrong with the car but nothing major, should all be fixed. One of them is a misaligned door- what the hell is a PDI for???

Yes, that just about sums it up Adam- mine does exactly the same.

The TSI is very quiet, in idle at traffic light there should be no sound or vibrations at all. However, I have the same idling rattle problem, went to the dealers for 3-4 times, but everytime I go there the sound vanishes. They told me that the sound is produced by the fuel lines that go through some channel underneath the car, under the co-driver seat. I need to get this thing fixed, it really annoys me.

Fortunately mine hasnt done this but the Tsi engine is not noisy at all....Its without doubt the quietest engine, especially at tickover, that I have ever heard.

The engine is very quiet, but it's the rattle from somewhere else causing the noise!

See my post......ttp://briskoda.net/forums/topic/211144-just-where-does-the-rattling-come-from-in-12-tsi/

It's exactly the same as the rattle I had on my V6 Superb Estate. There's a duff bracket under the drivers seat that needs replacing and a foam wedge thing needs putting in there. My motor's been fine ever since. I'm keeping my ear open for it on my wife's 1.2TSI Fabia Estate but we've not heard it so far
