My vRS is kaput

Featured Replies

It has started to misfire from about 2000 rpm on acceleration.

Advised to stop driving immediately and call for Skoda assistance.

Anyone had similar; I will search the forum?

Tony :(

Sounds like a coilpack to me, from the symptoms you describe.

Something like that will log a fault though, so should be relatively easy for them to identify the problem.

The cavalry are on the way. :wonder:

If they're attempting to resolve at the roadside, just get them to show you what (if any) fault codes are displayed. Presume they'll run a diagnostic check there and then.

Good luck emoticon-0148-yes.gif

As wardy says it may be a coilpack. Although could be a plug or injector. I assume your getting exhaust control warning light when she misses. Any other warning lights?

Hope they get it resolved quickly for you, keep us posted!

Was the warning light flashing, or has it come on and stayed on?

Have they arrived yet? :)

Hope you get sorted and on your way!

How manay miles does it have?

Diagnosed as a plug, which he did not have a spare.

Road test showed the same fault.

Hope to get a plug fitted this morning; car is not to be driven at present.

Warning light was flashing.

He swapped coil packs to see if the fault moved cylinders, which it didn't, indicating cylinder 3 plug.

7,3050 miles on the clock, out of warranty; warranty on plugs is 6,500 miles, so he says. I expect it's in the small print somewhere, but it won't break the bank.

Tony :S

Ahh glad it's just a plug, can't imagine it being too costly to replace.

Glad it's something simple

My car is now running again with it's new spark plug.

Did a lengthy drive yesterday with no misfire at all; in fact it is running better than I can remember.

A few details to share with the forum.

The RAC engineer seemed doubtful about obtaining a spare, but got one from a 'mate' he met on the road.

I had searched Bosch and NGK sites for info and as far as they are concerned the 1.4 Fabia vRS doesn't exist, nor my own vehicle from their registration database.

Before the engineer sourced the new plug, I telephoned NGK, who said they did not have plugs for the 1.4 Fabia vRS, try the dealer.

The engineer delivered and fitted the new plug, it's NGK PZFR6R but I think this is the important number 101905626.

This plug is readily available even though not known by NGK, about £9 each on the web.

I was charged £13.58, as plugs go out of warranty after 6,500 miles: I have 7,350 on the clock.

I will now carry a spare just in case.

Hope this saves you guys off road time.

Regards

Tony

Interesting that plugs go out of warranty between service periods

Perhaps even more interesting that one of the biggest spark plug manufacturer's in the world doesn't know they sell spark plugs for our car....:|
