my fabia progress

Featured Replies

i brought my fabia in February and thought i'd fill you in on my progress.

the first look

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/692/72090752.jpg/

first things i did was added two 400watt 6x9's because the two door speakers was just plain and boring

well it took a while to start doing things to the car but in july the suspension springs decieded to wear badly so i decieded to lower the car 35mm

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/834/27299222469830572451328.jpg/

then i decieded to get some wind defectors in mid august for the car which made it look smarter, which you cannot notice

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/841/imag0134ta.jpg/

and now its got some subs fitted... 1800watts worth :)

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/855/imag0135bq.jpg/

future plans: rear windows tinting, new headunit, secondary amp, upgraded door speakers, aiming for 3000+ watts with the sound, then maybe in the future some new wheels :)

the reason for the link to the photo's and them not actually uploaded is because this is my first ever post and don't know how to upload them

thankyou :)

Black or anthracite 16" standard vRS alloys will transform the car - should be able to pick a decent set up with tires for around the £200 mark :)

im thinking black vrs wheels or 05 seat ibiza sport 16's, 7spoke on the car, can get them for the same price

either will transform the car nicely :)

Good progress mate, im surprised you didnt splash out on a great headunit before you started to load up the car with audio

Do you get any vibrations using the OEM parcel shelf and the 6x9's?

Maybe colour code the door handles, wing mirrors etc. Looking good so far :)

the head unit that is in the car at the minute is one i brought for my old car, which cost £40 which has usb and aux in etc...

getting a new one soon with bluetooth and more amp connection ports.

im adventually going to colour code the door handles and wing mirrows, and around the edge of the wing mirrors im going to have an orange edge

also im going to paint the brake calipers orange.

i get no vibration at all with the oem parcel shelf, but the 6x9's are not on a amp which is properbly why.

and cheers for the comments :)

Not a fan of 6x9's. The standard speaker locations in the doors are pretty good, main issue is the limited mounting depth. I'd imagine the front standard speakers without 6x9's, plus the subwoofer - would sound better than 6x9's with subwoofer.

looks like a nice fabia, shame about the bump :(

as for the audio, its not all about the watts and cramming as much in as possible!

A 3000 watt speaker rated system dont make a loud powerful system unless you have a very powerful power amp to drive them.So for a full 3000w rated speaker system you would want a power amp capable of producing a electrial current of around 280 amps from a 12 volt system VxI=Watts

yeah i know, im learning with this car as i go along as it is my 1st modifying attempt :)

Surely the 6x9s in the parcel shelf fighting with the twin subs in the boot sounds dreadful! The air displacment of the subs is probably damaging the 6x9s and must be causing nasty distortion. I guess it's ok if you just want noise rather then sound quality, but for me I would ditch the 6x9s and replace the front door speakers and tweeters and power them from a good quality amp (i.e. forget the watts (most of them are false claims anyway) and concentrate on SNR and good frequency response across the board). Let me know if you want to know anything regarding fitting front door speakers. Looks like a tidy car.

  • Author

yeah it does distort but only when its on a loud and basey song, the 6x9's was fitted about 6months before the subs cause the car was originally a 2speaker model and drove me mad
