BL00DY CLUTCH!

Featured Replies

had to launch off a roundabout for a gap last night and had massive clutch slip!!!

now it's slipping all the time :(

only did the G60/Vr6 conversion 10k ago!! it's never been right since i did it but just lived with it but now it's slipping bad. just what i don't need right now as not got any free time to do it as work is mental and busy getting the misses car ready for it's Total Vauxhall feature

 Thats not good! You said its never been right, in what way?

All ways felt like it had a slight slip but wasn't always evident

Work hard as you are, save some cash, and get garage to fit appropriate correct clutch assembly for your vehicle.

Garage work will carry some guarantee, unlike your attempt earlier.

The cash isn't an issue I just prefer to do all my own work as I know it's done correctly. Just the luck of the draw with a dodgy clutch.

Didn't seem to work-out the first time you did?? no offence meant.emoticon-0149-no.gif

the fitment isn't at fault, it's a dodgy part or one that isn't up to the job.

maybe time for a stage 2/3 vr6 clutch me thinks to handle the extra ponies

Did you use pukka OEM parts or just something else claiming to be? What sort of power is your car putting out?

it's a LUK kit i fitted and i'm around 220-230 but never been on a R/R to check

Do you think you could have a leak somewhere, and maybe it just got worse? I guess contamination could come from the clutch slave cylinder, crankshaft seal or first motion shaft seal.

Being the G60/VR6 kit, there's nothing that can really go wrong with it. I'm assumsing you got all the correct bits and torqued up the cover plate bolts correctly.

What about the release bearing. What are the chances that it could be getting stuck, and not returning properly as you lift off the clutch. The release bearing in the VR6 clutch kit is the same part number as the release bearing fitted to our gearboxes as standard, so there are no compatibility issues there.

The LUK clutch kit is the proper OEM one, so that should be good. Where did you get the flywheel?

all bone dry, no leaks at all :'(

i've changed the slave clyinder to eliminate that and still the same.

the flywheel was brand new from VW, The input shaft spline was cleaned and checked before it was re-assembled.

guess it will just have to take it back out and replace it.

Oh, and the G60/VR6 conversion is supposed to be good for 250bhp and 300lbft (assuming you use the right bits).

The part numbers for making up the kit are:

VR6 clutch kit = 021 198 141A

G60 flywheel (9.4kg) = 028 105 269BX

Cover plate bolts (x6) = N10101001

Flywheel bolts (x6) = N90206103

I've had mine on for over 20k miles now, and it's never slipped.

standard clutch ftw :giggle:

Pretty low blows there, unnecessary if you ask me. Fitted right or wrong, you don't kick a man when he's down...

Furry - Any chance you didn't clean the packing oil's and slip off the flywheel upon installation? Might of gummed up the plate. It's a long shot?

Good luck getting it resolved, and chin up. Its all part and parcel of owning a performance vehicle :)
