Just ordered a vRS TDI CR... Any issues?

Featured Replies

Hi all!

I've currently got a 2001 1.9 tdi Elegance estate that's been brilliant for the last 6 years (only failure was the MAF about 3 years ago, everything else has been wear and tear).

So I thought I'd treat myself to a brand spanking new vRS TDI (Race Blue, VRS Black Leather, Rear Parking Sensors, Variable Boot Floor, Auto Rear Mirror, Rain & Light Sensor, Maxi Dot Trip Computer).

Having just read through some of this forum I'd like to confirm the CR engine doesn't have the injector issues or anything else I've not seen yet?

I've got time to reconsider as delivery should be March...

Cheers in advance!

Jim.

Mine was faultless for the two and a half years I had it from new.

March 1st 2010....Still not been back with it for anything!!

...as above, had mine from March 2010 & zero issues but it has had a serious mod;....a 2nd curry hook in the boot...!

April 2010 and now nearly 20k and no issues......Just new centre caps and a new rear badge.

Superb engine, you are just missing the DSG.

Shame you ordered the wrong colour though :giggle:

So it seems they've nailed it with the CR engine?

I've driven several Porsches at their Silverstone track with and without PDK (same as DSG) and ON TRACK it was absolutely phenomenal (I've always hated automatics). Away from the track it just wasn't 'right' and that was without town work or heavy traffic... Plus I prefer the extra connection you feel doing the work yourself.

Why the centre caps and rear badge? Were they replaced under warranty?

Cheers,

Jim.

The PDK doesn't get great reviews TBH.

The CR is great, it is very flexible in all conditions.

Badges replaced for corrosion. All under warranty and a common issue across the VAG range.

Mine had an exhaust pressure sensor replaced under warranty after Skoda Assist cleared the dpf which wouldn't regen properly, but other than that, nothing.

july 2010 not had any issues at all and you have deffo got best colour will always sell unlike current trend colours although that new met green looks the dogs

If it's an estate just watch out for the dreaded tyre wear issue. But don't let that put you off - it's a great car. Mine's a March 2010 and I have a problem with my maxi-dot trip computer which is being looked at under warranty and one of the rear seat bolsters wasn't fitted properly so that had to be sorted - TBH garage should have spotted it before I took delivery of the car.

Good choice of car - I'm currently looking at a new vRS and pretty much same spec as yours.

I wondered how long the lead time would be, so at least I know it's 6 months!

You might get it quicker - I'm waiting so I know I've got the funds instead of finance... £18450 OTR inc options, retail £23225.

What tyre issue?

It was only on the Dunlop tyres and i believe the alignment had been adjusted now. I haven't had any issue with tyre wear, just blooming punctures involving needing new tyres at £150 a corner :'(

Can I just ask why you have ordered a brand new one? The moment you drive it off the forecourt it will lose a good few thousand in value! There are plenty of '11' plated ones with plenty of optional extras added, possibly saving you £2-3,000 and still same offers apply!....On the plus side, you certainly won't be disappointed, I am pleased with the performance of my standard 2.0TDI 140bhp octavia, surprises most, so VRS tdi will be a blast :)

Happy motoring :)

Have you looked at the price of second hand ones at dealers? When I got mine I got a new one with more extras than the demo I drove for 2k less than they wanted for the 2nd hand one.

I'd agree with JRW, the ones at the dealers are similar prices to the new ones via offers.

The other thing I've found is most of the 'nearly' new are demo cars or "ex Skoda UK management cars" that the dealer tries to say a nice Skoda manager was driving but turns out to be Avis on the V5!

That's exactly why... I can get a year old vRS (without the Black leather) with less than 10k miles for around £16-17k

A brand new one (with the leather and a few other bits) for an extra £1-1.5k that I know hasn't been 'repped up and down the country is a small price to pay...

I reckon I could actually sell it for £18k+ looking at what else is on the forecourts...

Only thing is, I don't wanna wait 6 months! Still, the best things come to those who wait!

Anyone recommend a Paint protector? I was offered Supaguard for £350, but you can get it from independant (but certified) valet people for £150.

Mine suffered with sawtoothing on rears, they were dunlops. 10k on some eagle F1's and it's back worse than before.

Just watchout for it, or raise the issue before signing on the dotted line.

That's the only issue in 50k since jan 2010.

The conti's I've just replaced at the front lasted 20k!! Although they should of really been replaced at 18.

Sportmaxx's lasted 12k

+1 for the ContiSport 3  Done similar mileage and on 3rd set for front, second for rear

Check the paintwork thoroughly as had a few issues with mine.

Yeah don't bother....bring it round mine - i will do a better job for £150 :giggle:

+1 for paint issues.....only on front bumper though. paint seems very soft and have slight peeling in the numberplate recess, don't know whether to just touch up or actually take to the dealer in the hope i will get the whole front bumper resprayed.

THEY SCREWED MINE THREW BUMPER  I thought it would have been the same as back with the holes built in.

Same here - but mine is peeling from where the recess is, away from the numberplate.

So they're using screws to attach the front number plate? How gash is that!

Think I'll be having a word to the guys at DMKeith Leeds so they use sticky pads instead!

Anyone get 'GB' on the plates from new? Is it something I can specify?
