Cruise Control temperature sensitive?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if the engine has to be above a certain temperature before the cruise control will work?

The reason I ask is that there is a road that I travel on regularly, there is a section that is 3 miles from my house where I normally use cruise control. This road ends 1/4 mile from my destination. When I return on the same route cruise control will not engage until I have been driving for most of the distance. This makes me wonder if it's a temperature thing?

My wife however has decided that cruise control only works if I'm driving West.

no mate! I know it doesnt work in first gear or up until about 20mph so sounds like you have a faulty stalk.

Never had any problems with cruise control turning on when I wanted it to ... sounds very odd.

By the way, completely off topic, is that Wroxham behind you in your profile pic?

I use my cruise control all the time, and it works from stone cold.

In my old Honda Accord it would not work below 30mph, maybe it could be a 'speed' issue??

How fast are you going on this stretch of road??

+1

does sound like a stalk / switch problem

Thanks for the replies. The section of road where I've noticed this is 30mph but on the occasions that it has worked I've been able to use the Up/Down buttons to reduce the speed to about 25mph and back again. I can't find any reference in the handbook to it not being active below a certain speed but that's not to say it's not there! I think the handbook is one of the worst I've ever seen. :'(

I have managed to disprove my wife's theory that it only works going West, had the same effect today on a Westerly road. :D

More research needed.

Hi - above 20mph or so is pretty common for all cruise systems (unless you have latest fancy adaptive traffic system - wish the Yeti did)

First sentence in my Yeti owners manual cruise control page:

"The cruise control system (CCS) maintains a constant speed, more than 30 km/h (20

mph)"

Mine worked fine at 20 mph today.Had to be in 3rd gear though.:)
