Yeti Accessories @ Motormods

Featured Replies

I just searched and could not see a mention of this, any of you Yeti'ists tried this place at all, it looks like they have some useful Yeti accessories (With the exception of the Viper Stripe)

http://www.motormods.co.uk/skoda_yeti_accessories.html

I like the look of the reversing camera, I stumbled across it whilst searching for reversing camera's for my Superb.

hmm I was all excited til I realised that Skoda fitted most of those to my car in the factory :-)

sunroof: check

sensors: check

cruise control: check

you get the idea

now a big stripe? Hmmmmm maybe not

:giggle: MDI? Reversing camera? Though the latter requries a terrible new head unit... But MDI I'd want for sure.

is MDI ipod only? I have an android phone and I can play music from it via bluetooth, besides I have all my music on SD cards really

Merlinman put me on to a good kit for adding an MDI to a Bolero. It works with a little wave of the magic VCDS wand!

I wonder who is behind the company?

There used to be a Skoda dealer in that area years ago who had something to do with the old Works Rally Team.

I think the only thing that might interest me is some of the vinyl wrapping, bit NOT the stripe!

Thanks. That Yeti is a member on here and he has before posted about some of these changes... I can't remember his profile name now!

Edit: his profile name is Nutters.

Has your's not got a Columbus mr 900000? or does it have an Amundsen +, not sure on the Elegance spec of the Yeti. You can fit a camera to an RNS510 / Columbus.

MDI has 2 leads available, one for USB and one for iPod with the dedicated iPod dock connector.

I have got both leads but have moved all my music over to the Hard Disk on my Columbus and dump my podcasts onto my Samsung Galaxy S2. Using the USB lead with the MDI, it charges the galaxy and by putting the phone into USB storage mode I can access the internal memory and the SD Card, mainly to play the podcasts back on the long late night journeys to work on a Sunday night.

Leads are about £20 ish from Skoda, but can be had for £14 on eBay (Genuine VW)

It's a neat little box of tricks the MDI, much better than an aux cable, and when using it with the phone or iPod, it gives you full control over tracks / artists / playlists / podcasts.

No I just have a Bolero. And since I have Park Assist I don't really need a camera! :giggle:

so the HTC phone would have access to pretty much the same functionality as using the bluetooth? ie I coudl access the files on the phone and play them on the Bolero but could not control it via the Bolero? No real advantage given that I can do the same via bluetooth.

what am I talkign about, I now work from home so there is no need for any extra functionality given how few miles I now do

Indeed you don't :)

They can be useful though, my Prius had one along with sensors and I found the reversing camera really useful. The most memorable moment was when I was teaching down in Blagdon and took my delegates for lunch at the Plume of Feathers pub. One of them had a Freelander and was mocking the reversing camera as a gimmick and parking sensors are all you need.

We reversed out of the plume, with my reversing camera I was able to reverse inch perfectly over the rather deep brook outside the pub, Mr Freelander NEVER looked, reversed out, never got any beeps until his car was resting in with it's arse in the raging torrent below.

I have some great pictures of it on my mobile that I must post up.

If I can fit one to the superb with minimal fuss I will do because of these little uses, (which are no substitute for observation), and the superb has a big fat arse, and it's sensors are a bit to sensitive at times.

No, you should be able to control the music function via the Bolero as well as the MFSW. Essentially what it will do is turn your Android into an "SD Card" / "USB Drive", whilst charging your phone and keeping it out of sight.

You can't charge it via Bluetooth.

(Mandatory Yeti Giggle follows) :giggle:

The reason I would like MDI is as fluffmeister said: you can control your MP3 device from the MFSW or Bolero AND the MP3 device gets charged out of sight at the same time.

True an SD card gives you much the same but the faffing about getting my music on it and to make playlists work has been a total disaster for me thus far. I never listen to only a single artist at a time and always use iTunes smart playlists.

One thing you could do, if you wished to sync an SD card / USB Disk / Android Phone with iTunes, and have your playlists, genius playlists etc available on said devices for use in the Yeti, is look at Doubletwist.

It's free, runs on Windows or Mac's and allows you to sync your iTunes Library with pretty much any device. I use it to sync with my SD Card mounted inside my Galaxy S2, then when it's connected to the MDI, all my music is there, all my playlists I have full control over it all through my Columbus and the MFSW, the phone is also being charged.

THANK YOU!!!!!! I will definitely go and look at that. As the SD card route will certainly be cheaper than getting MDI.

Mmmmmmm - do the stripes come in gold - I can feel a plan coming on B)

Our guy managed to get a reversing camera to work with a Columbus headunit, not sure about Bolero though.

doubletwist is great, it's like Itunes for android phones, tis what I use, which is clearly why I wasn't seeign the point of MDI

Please post the pics, sounds hilarious! Shame you don"t have a video as you'd get £250 quid from Youv'e been Framed

Long Memories...Graham.... that was Sedgeberrow Motors who sold and rallied proper Skoda's they used to beat up mini coopers with an old 120 Estelle

I nearly bought a Rapid off them for less than £2,000 new!

Edited by mandatrix

Correct!

Owned by an old gentleman, whose son was called John. I can't remember his surname. John was one of the mechanics for the old works rally team when I was in it.

You have the right family now what was the surname..my memory has gone

The garage was right in the middle of Sedgeberrow then after the by-pass was built they moved to the Winchcombe road

Briskoda must have a historian who remembers the old Skoda network

I knew him quite well, too. I thought it began with a "H".

EDIT:
