Maxidot Retrofit Coding

Featured Replies

Hi. Ive just received a maxidot cluster and cruise control stalk from skodateile. Can anybody tell me what coding is necessary to get the new cluster working in my 2008 octavia vrs. Dont have Shark to do it for me in Ireland :'( . Thanks in advance

Have you only got VCDS?

You'll need more than that to code the immobiliser.

There is a lot of coding needed to complete the swap, mileage, service regime, interval, immobiliser and more. The mileage can only be set once, so get it wrong and you are stuffed.

The easiest would be to get a dealer to do it, they need to follow the VAS guidance for swapping a dashpod under warranty. The process takes about 30 mins, and is quiet straight forward, do do this the dealer will require both keys.

Can these be had for the VRS fabia ?

Dealer it is so thanks for the replys

I swapped my dashpod with a maxidot and did it the dealer way. Mine is a skoda yeti 2011 :) some codings may be required..ie central electronics, navigation stuff, comfort settings... Drl lights options.. Depending on your existing codings...

Well.. My dealer is a complete noob with regards to coding.. They even mentioned that i bought a wrong part number when i queried about missing options in the mfd. So i did it my way....vcds coding

Just make sure you save the screen shots of all your original settings.

Interesting. If the process takes only 30 mins & is straight forward why is my dealer so reluctant to do my FL 1.8 tsi dsg? Are there hidden warranty issues when swapping a normal instrument cluster with a maxidot?

I swapped a normal cluster to a maxidot one on my FL octy 1.8 Tsi 6 speed mt...

As said above no issues whatsoever ... just ask your dealer to use the same procedure he would to change a damaged/malfunctioning instrument cluster. !

"So I did it my way..." Hang on! You mean you did retrofit on your own, without recourse to dealer.

I did ask dealer. Dealer checked with SkodaUK for advice and was told not to do it. Skoda said if anything went wrong during or after retrofit (to cluster or any associated electronics) it would be down to dealer ie don't call Skoda for financial help. So dealer said nyet.

You will have to get it done from the dealer itself. No one will be able to get the SKC as before they were available in lists with the dealers but now the system is online.

Your dealer can do it, tell him to follow the procedure he would to replace a faulty cluster.

It just depends on how good you are at convincing him.

dealer cannot do that with second hand speedo - only brand new one - and they are still unhappy to change from standard to maxidot...

so... is there anybody that can do that? I heard Shark can pull the SKC out but they too far away from me..

Surely the cluster is new if it came from Skodateile. It's probably the fact that you got it from there that they don't like

If the unit is new and never been coded they SHOULD be able to do it, mine did eventually in the UK

mine is not. second hand unit with 2k miles on it...

If it has already been adapted to a car then the VAS system is unable to re-adapt it to another.

If you need some help getting this coded to your car pm me and I maybe able to help :)

How much are dealers charging these days? Im in Belfast myself so too far from Ben sadly.

I'd put this out of my head but for some reason I was looking at Lauren and Klements earlier on and its now tempting me again!
