Sachs SRE friction plate and cover - now back up for sale

Featured Replies

My flywheel recently started failing so I've upgraded to a single mass, which then required a new friction plate, and for the sake of not wanting to do this ever again on this car I changed the cover as well while it was all apart. Which leaves me with the old Sachs SRE friction plate and cover that are still OK to use with a DMF setup but not suitable for my car anymore. They're about 2 years old and have covered around 40,000 miles since being fitted by Awesome GTI. It's never been tracked or dragged, and used for road/fast road use only.

There are some small signs of wear, but the mechanic who fitted the new clutch says there's still plenty of life left in them if mated up to a DMF in better condition than mine. It was only replaced because I went for a single-mass flywheel and this is a rigid friction plate rather than the sprung plate which is recommended for use with SMFs to provide dampening. Should be good to handle around 400lb/ft of torque when new, so even after use should still be perfect for anything up to hybrid turbo applications, my car runs around 330lb/ft at the moment and as said, it's never slipped on my car.

Don't know how to price up this sort of thing as there's no completed listings on eBay that I can check out for used items, but to buy these two items new would cost in the region of £640 all inclusive. So I'm looking for £300 all in, OR OPEN TO SENSIBLE OFFERS VIA PM. Pictures to follow too once I get home tonight and can crack the digital camera out.

Finally got round to getting a few pics:

There are a few worn patches on the pressure plate, but I'm told these aren't anything to worry about, and I've never had clutch slip no matter how I drive so I think these friction components are still in good condition.

Up, and a small price drop, would take £340 collected/delivered. Can probably drop it off at Shark on Sunday if anyone's going to be up there for the rolling road ;)

Lol what's round 2 then?

Round 2 is "successfully reducing Gavin's credit card balance by £340". First person to do that gets a clutch and cover!

Price sounds about right

Sold a similar mileage one for £300 iirc

As always, it's worth what someone will pay :) had very little interest in it so far so at this rate it might even find itself on eBay if I can be arsed with all the hassle...

  • Author

Still in my kitchen getting in the way, so any interest at £300 all in? Way under half price and still plenty of life in it on a car running a DMF...

Quick bump at £300 OR OFFERS before it probably ends up on eBay towards the end of the week.

Bump again, and a note that I'm going to have to do this with UK shipping only. I had a nice PM from someone in Israel but the postage was insane and I really don't want to have to deal with the hassle of international shipping because as it stands it's a pretty big, heavy package.

Let me know when is on ebay, cheers

If/when it goes up then I'll stick a link in this thread. If it's not sold then it's likely to be eBayed to finish in the week between Christmas and New Year.

As added info, you can run the friction plate with an LUK flywheel and clutch cover, it would then be like a stage 1, more friction with no extra weight.

  • Author

Not sure why you would, since this is the uprated Sachs Race Engineering cover (i.e. the one designed to do 400lb/ft with this friction plate) and LUK items tend to be OEM spec in my experience, but useful to know.

For anyone reading the above post, I don't want to split the two parts, they were designed by Sachs as a package, bought as a package, and are being sold as a package :)

Just added the above info for people who are running an LUK flywheel. As sachs and LUK clutch covers are not interchangeable. I am running the setup I said on 345lb-ft :)

I have pointed someone on Cupra net in the direction of this...

Cheeky Christmas Day bump, all you younguns who've just had a ton of cash for Christmas and fancy a remap for your 1.8T or 1.9TDI, you're going to need one of these as well, so buy it now ;)

Bump!

After a few problems unforeseen by either myself or the buyer, this will be back up for sale. It's shortly being shipped back to me having never been fitted to Vlad's car in the end, so will be in the condition seen above, although I plan to try and clean it up a little and will get some new pictures if I do.

For £300 I'd snap your hand off, if you want to offer less then drop me a PM, I can only say no after all!
