Hi all,

I hope to be fitting my new Pioneer into my Octy2 at the weekend.

Has canbus integration so hopefully my climate and parking sensor displays will continue to work.

After this I hope to upgrade the rest of audio system along with screens in the headrests for the lil one!

Got some Alpine V12 amps from my last car that I hope to use as well.

If anyone is interested in the HU and wants a few pics when installed let me know!

Cheers

BIG Nick :)

Sounds interesting, I'm looking for a head unit that does bluetooth, sat nav and integrates with the parking sensors and climate functions so I'll be following this thread to see how you get on. If it did DAB too then that would be the clincher for me

Cheers

Brian

Each to their own!

I got it at cost but as above the retail is over £1k.

Does everything so well, the crappy Zenec Nc2010 I had before was utter rubbish, never ever worked properly!

Best looking non OEM unit I have seen. Does it display directions on the Maxidot?

I'm not 100% sure, but at least in the Youtube videos of item "CA-RI-VAG.001AE Steering Wheel Remote Control" show how Maxidot shows different things from Pioneer. Strange that the addon is labeled "steering wheel remote", but as the control seems to contain some "box" instead of just wires, I believe you will get both steering wheel remote + maxidot at the same time. Looks like ~100€ thing.

I just ordered Avic-F30BT and CA-RI-VAG.001AE, do I need some trim ring to fit this in Octavia (pre-fl)? I do have Stream MP3 2-din radio in now. Will of course post my experiences of the combination here.

Would it be possible to connect OEM bluetooth microphone wire to Pioneer, or would it require pulling wire from OEM bluetooth (under the seat) module to Pioneer? My OEM bluetooth module is dead so I used that as an excuse to purchase Pioneer :D

Answering myself: You will definitely need Skoda specific facia plate (or trim ring, however you call them) because Pioneer face plate is much smaller at least due to it not having buttons on the sides.

Currently the open questions are:

1. Where to connect Pioneer's CAR SPEED SIGNAL INPUT cable?

ANSWER: Should be taken care of with CA-RI-VAG.001AE.

2. Where to connect Pioneer's PARKING BRAKE cable?

ANSWER: Should be taken care of with CA-RI-VAG.001AE.

3. Where to connect REVERSE GEAR SIGNAL INPUT cable, and do I need to connect it as I have parking sensors (rear+front), but no reverse camera?

ANSWER: Should be taken care of with CA-RI-VAG.001AE.

4. Where to connect Pioneer's "Audio Mute lead"?

ANSWER: Probably cannot be connected anywhere as there is no MUTE button in Skoda steering wheel.

5. Where should I place the USB/mini-jack audio connector for most convenient usage? Glove box? Jumbo box? Could I use the OEM mini-jack wire that's already going from radio to jumbo box?

*ANSWERED, SEE BELOW*

You said in your previous post you'd purchased the interface lead from Pioneer? If so this connects reverse, hand brake and speed sensor.

Regarding the usb/av lead that's down to personal preference! I put mine in the jumbo box so my iPod can stay connected and out of sight.

Excellent, thanks Nick for the info! I did purchase the Pioneer interface lead and it is titled as "steering wheel remote control". I haven't received it yet, but according to manual it should contain the three wires as you say.

It should support maxidot and steering wheel controls for both phone and radio. What is not yet clear is that will it also enable display of climate control and parking sensor display on Pioneer. Seems like there is a separate part (CD-SVW-UAR.001AE) which is titled as "Hard Wired Remote Control Interface". Everything I find from the internet regarding that is about it showing climacontrol and parking sensors...just send follow up question to Pioneer support.

Both Pioneer and CA-RI-VAG.001AE are now installed. Nothing difficult in connecting the wires, but will have to double check some connections as only radio steering wheel buttons work. Phone steering wheel buttons do nothing. Also I cannot see anything regarding climate control in Pioneer, nor in Maxidot. Will investigate more tomorrow.

Can you add a DAB module to this?

Well, finally got CD-SVW-UAR.001AE, which should've solved the clima + parking sensor display, but still cannot seen anything. Pioneer says that BUS is connected, and it senses when I put reverse gear on, turn on the lights, etc. Also radio buttons on steering wheel work. No idea why clima+parking still not work... :(

FYI: what will NOT work, never, ever, according to Pioneer, are the phone steering wheel controls.
