when the floormat is removed the carpet found to be wet. i have noticed this before also but i thought since it was rainy season moisture inside would be normal with the AC on. but now after the rains also the carpet is wet. what could be the issue?

I actually said door seal or blocked door drainhole outloud before I even came in to the thred and my wife now thinks I've totally lost the plot due to me then exclaiming "what did I say" when I saw the above"

Drives side or passenger? Front or rear?

Does it rain much in India?

As others have mentioned the door seals are likely to be the cause.

Another recent post showed how the water pipe for the rear screen wash had split above the headlining somewhere over the rear seat. This resulted in a wet seat and floor carpet. I think the pipe is routed over the passenger (left?) side. Do you drive on the right or left in India!?

Squeeze the rubber door seal with your fingers, if water squirts out of the drain hole I reckon that'll be where the problem is.

No, what I meant was that the water ingress could be caused by a failed door seal or a blocked drain hole in the bottom of the door.

Water does get in to the doors by various means and the drain holes at the bottom allow this water to get away similarly, if you have a failed door seal it is simply going to let water in from around the door edges.

ok today went to the garage and was amazed to find the issue causing the dampness :oB)

i had seen this dampness for over a couple of years before but never really looked into it. did u guys knew the "sunroof" had four drainage pipes?

ok two pipes are routed to the front and two to the rear. the front pipes flows water through the holes besides the front door mountings ( wen u open the door u can see)and both the rear pipes is routed to the rear boot ( wen u open up the boot)

the rear pipes has a joint in between. we've found the rh rear pipe was not connected and the water was falling on the roof top cloth just besides the rear rh passenger head room and was going down to the carpet. :mmm:

please note: over the years these pipes tend to get blocked with dust.the front left pipe was blocked.so its good to clean them up sometime.

thanks

joseph

Glad you got sorted Joseph

I've had blocked sunroof drainage pipes on a previous car but must admit I didn't think of that as the door seal, drain hole is the more usual.
