Fabia 16V '02

Featured Replies

My Fabia one day had engine light, EPC light and Warning triangle light come on, and accelorator failed to work...

After awhile, once the car had settled it was able to restart and work.

This happened another couple of times, and I had called out the AA, had a lot checked through these guys, one of them thought it was the fuel pump, another thought it might be immobilsser not switching of properly.

Now my car wont start at all, the garage had it for 3 weeks they sent my ECU unit of, they had my dashboard checked out, they changed some sensors and checked a lot of other things.... They have now dropped my car back to my house saying there is nothing wrong with my car.... But it doesn't start still.....

Now everyone saying it is a electronics problem, but I broke down 5 times with this car and sounds like the fuel is struggling to get to the engine, BUT the diagnostics plug in doesn't work either... all fuses have been checked over and over and are fine.

I don't know what else to do I went to Skoda garage and they didn't seem at all interested in helping...

Could it be something to do with the carbretta?

Any help is a big help, thanks in advance.

has fuel pump relay been checked

has fuel pump relay been checked

Seconded. It sounds like no power to the ECU.

Ah! I don't think that was checked at all! They checked the pump or that's what I was led to believe and they said it seemed healthy...

My dad has been playing with the car all day and changed a few bits on it and managed to get it started after swapping a few fuses, Still has light on EPC and like the warning triangle.

Thanks for the help guys will see if I can get it looked at this week!

I can't believe a garage can send a car back saying there's nothing wrong but it still does not start.

Yeah my thoughts are the same.

Normally I always use this guy, he is reliable also he is a Skoda specialist or states he is, but I think he just couldn't be bothered with this one... £150 later.... He also left the ECU unit hanging off, the air intake wasn't secured, the front grill for some reason was inside the car...

Well for now it is running, but not going to use it, just need to get to another garage and like stated get them to check the fuel pump relay... Fingers crossed!

But any thoughts on why the ECU isn't giving anyone a reading? no machines will light up when there plugged in... surely that is the brain of the car... lol

i think there is a fuse for the diagnostic port

have you checked this try putting a new fuse in

as they sometimes look ok but might be duff

I have tried a couple of different fuses, non have worked out... I spoke to a guy today who says it can't be the fuel pump relay if managed to get it started again... But in my eyes and by the way it sounded before it is a fuel problem somewhere.

By any chance can you re-program a second hand ECU to work for another car or are they factory made to order only?

Thanks for your help all.

You can, but they have to be coded to the immobiliser.
