Track Day - Bedford Autodrome

Featured Replies

Had a great day yesterday - Drove the S2000 and the Pug 205 (only spun the S2000 once too which i thought wasn't too bad having never driven the S or being on a track day). Both great but totally different cars to drive. We also had the clio cup in our group but didn't get chance to drive that due to the brakes being metal on metal by the PM.

Anyway on to the pics:

Enjoy!

(also 2 fabia VRS's there but weren't on the track, anyone on here?

:peek: Mine was the black Fabia. I remembered you were going when my Mrs said she saw a red octy on the way in, but there was lots of you so I didnt come over lol.

I was with the M3/Evo 9/Mini Clubman. Wasnt that fussed about going on the track but after watching everyone else I`m well up for it now, looks like a lot of fun, new year I`m on it! Some nice pictures too

Ah the Clubman diesel lol! Did you go on as a passenger then? I did about 5-6 laps in the Pug and the S2000 but had to come in to let the engine and brakes cool - Got 125mph in both cars on that back straight.

Would love to do it myself but would have killed my tyres and brakes.......How did you manage to get your car into the paddock then, they told me i couldn't unless i was on the track......

You should have come over - we were a friendly bunch lol.....I was parked in the carpark with all the trailers....got my 16inch winters on though

LOL, he used the Mini because his TVR is still dead, he done 2 or 3 laps then the brakes overheat so he had to come back in. The other mini (cooper s?) driver asked how it was on the track he just replied "it understeers, its slow & the brakes are crap"

We said we had to drop parts off, then the bloke in the yellow Leon said we had to go soon as we dropped them off because it was too busy for us to stay. We just parked them as out the way as possible and he never came back. Chris (in the blue fabia) done the same last time too, if its not busy and you stay out the way they dont mind I dont think.

I thought about trying that when i saw your fabias there but couldn't be bothered to walk back....we just dumped all our stuff and spare wheels in an unused pit :giggle:

Cooking brakes was a problem on there with that long straight. The chap with the Pug was guiding me around the track and making me go faster and faster through the chicane at the end of the straight and in the end i was hitting it at about 85-90mph and flying though it! The handling on that 205 was amazing for a nearly 20 year old car....with a 1.9 Mi16 engine in it :giggle: Very forgiving unlike the Honda....you think you have corrected an oversteer and it will just go and bite you back!

It looked very quick, seeing that and the other smaller cars flying round made me realise you don't need huge power to enjoy it even the lad in the 306 had a huge grin each time he came back in.

Yes it is just the handling more than anything that you needed apart from the straight..... The Porsche 966 Turbo that was with us in the morning was getting 150+mph down that straight!
