VRS-Powered's Skoda Fabia vRS TSI - TMC & ITG @ 211.6 BHP

Featured Replies

Well the Forge Spacer is now off the car as I'm not sure if it's leaking boost, but also it makes the car less stealth than before and I can't have that  .

I also spent this morning removing the weights from the rear of the car....

Now you see me :

Now you don't :

Nice little saving on weight there :)

How much weight is there???? Is it fitted to all models?

Think its just the hatch and is why it weighs more than the estate. Totals 25kg

This morning the postie delivered my ELM327…

torque1.jpg

Will be using it alongside the Torque app on my Samsung GS2.

torque2.jpg

Installing it was a doodle, take off the fuse panel.

torque3.jpg

Find the OBD2 port (how I want to make a joke about finding the pink right now!).

torque5.jpg

And push it in :giggle: .

torque6.jpg

Managed to get it paired with the phone in no time.

torque8.jpg

First thing was to see if there was any faults on the ECU.

th_DSC_0386.jpg

Then checked it was reading correctly.

Seems to work well! Managed to get onto a friends private piece of land for a 0-60 run. It is a little wet out there so wheels span up a little and a slight incline but put this time in :

I reckon in the dry on a flat the car will do 0-60 in 5.9-6.0 secs so very happy with that. Was previously recorded at GTI Inters 11' @ 6.58.

Why have you taken the ballasts out?

You have upset the balance of your car now

I really do hope you know what youre doing!!!

These weights are here for a reason

Good luck

The balance as standard is one of excessive understeer, i have found no issues with mine gone at all in any way and thats after trying to unsettle it on a wet trackday at Mallory on friday. Its just moved the balnce towards a more 'neutral' setup. And its still prone to understeer alot more than it oversteers.

I do agree that they were put there for a reason, which is to make the car easier to drive on the limit for in experienced drivers. So i wouldnt recommend doing it if you have never experienced oversteer before or havent had a chance to try the car out and learn its characteristics on a track.

Cheers mate

What tyres are you running? Was looking for possible replacements (when needed), Continental Sport Contact 3's seem to get good reviews.

very worn conti 2's.

Whats your budgets. The Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2 tyres are getting rave reviews and are only £100 a corner for 215/40R17s. Ive not tried them yet, but have had the old F1 tyres and they were excellent

Honestly if they are worth the money then budget is "Somewhat" out the window.

Probably be looking to pay about £130 or less per tyre

If thats the budget the market is your oyster pretty much.

Would I need to stick with 205/40R17 or could I go to 215 ?

Im going for 215/40R17 on mine. the only reason we got the 205 width tyres is down to skoda cost cutting. The ibiza cupra and polo GTI make do with 215width tyres as standard

Are the Polo and Ibiza alloy wheels the same width as the VRS ones or are they slightly wider to accommodate the 215 width?

Same i think. On a 7" wide rim you can go upto 215 with no issues. for wider tyres such as 225 or 235 you would need to look at 7.5" wide rims

Any insurance issues going up to 215? Cheers.

Would you need to inform them if you are only going up slightly in width?

In my view, yes. When I mentioned to mine I had fitted winter tyres on steels they were only concerned about them being no bigger than the originals. Wouldn't have thought it would make much difference as on some trial quotes I have done for mine adding a stage 1 map only adds about £20!

Ahhh ok mate cheers  didn't know if it was needed or not

Regarding the ELM327 - did you get it of ebay? Looks interesting and from what I can see it is cheap but not sure if all ELM327s online are right for a Fabia :|

  • Author

Yeah I bought it from eBay bud, will post up the link when I'm at a computer :)

I have one from extremedeals that I paired with my Optimus2x and it works great for vwag / gm atleast :-).

sent from the real deal

Is yours version 1.4? odd they don't list Skoda but if yours worked then it should be fine

Sorry mate, only just managed to get logged on!

This is the one I bought

The seller didn't list my car and didn't know if it would work but I took a punt on it. Mine is the 1.4a I believe
