pas light and flickering headlights

Featured Replies

Hi

Not had the fabia long, was bought for my daughter when she passed her test.

I have read a lot of information regarding pas lights but this cars symptoms seem slightly different.

The pas light came on the other day so thought id check fluid level-a bit low so topped it up.

Took out steering angle sensor- looked clean and dry. not sure if this is an early on or later one, it has metal end wher allen screws are and body/circuit board is white plastic.

Checked alternator and battery they seem ok but may get them load tested.

Took out fog light and grill to get to pump- its like everone else has said covered in britle plastic and foam-checked connections and covered it in wd40.

Checked all earths-seem ok.

The difference with this car is the steering does not go heavy? just light comes on and lights flicker. Turn it off and on all is ok for another 3 weeks.

Questions

If it had failed before would the light be caused by an error code on ecu to keep coming back or is it totally rest by turning the ignition off and on?

Is the steering angle sensor an original?

If i buy another sensor does it need programing to the ecu or pump or is it just plug and play.

Are the pumps for sale now any different to the early ones.

The only symptom that is realy noticeable is a strange woop woop noise from the pump when the flickering lights start which i thought could be current draw to the pump and straining.

If i needed to buy a decent fault code reader could anyone advise which would cover everthing for this car including pas reset

All jobs on this car i can do myself as i have been an aircraft engineer for 30 years +

But faults like these just stump me!!!!!!!!

Check the voltage drop along the battery earth lead, there is a modified lead available (only about 12quid from dealer).

Got the dreaded flickering lights/PAS light syndrome. Anyone got a part no for the modified earth lead? Saw a couple on ebay but they are for 1.2 engines, will these be OK?

Stick a new battery on it.

Sent from while trying to smuggle de cat into house.

It sounds like you have the newer metal body PAS sensor.........what is the battery capacity...should have stamped on it 60ah.......if lower then fit a new bigger battery......how old is the battery???....if over 6yrs could also be the cause......... B)
