greenline spoiler

Featured Replies

thinking of one if it's not too expensive, if i can get an extra mile or two per gallon, it might be worth it on tjhe long term. tiny picture on the brochure not a good ankle, dpn't show what it really looks lke, any pics?

Will be looking to make it black sides with body coloured top.

thank you

edit:

this is for the hatch version

You had no picture... Am I assuming you are enquiring about the genuine Skoda part? Is it a front spoiler or boot spoiler? If boot,do they list as for Greenie, now? It was just Fabia hatch on older versions...

Also, not sure how it helps fuel consumption. Front spoiler might, by giving better aerodynamics!

It's quite a big spoiler on the greenline II and improves flow at the back end.

on the face list green line there is a spoiler on the hatch. ther's a little picture in the brochure but it doesn't show what it looks like very well from the back or side

Listed as standard on the greenie, aero spoiler.. I likes it! Very similar to the T-sport on an early yaris but with longer projections down the sides. (Think there was some like this too)!

I would guess its more looks then function but it may give a cleaner airflow to the rear of the car. This would do the same for any Fabia, if it works but boot spoilers are often more cosmetic than functional on a front wheel drive car and CAN even lower the performance and road holding!

well apparently according to the brochure it's designed to increase aerodynamics

Are you mad? ;)

1. It looks terrible. (IMO)

2. The cost plus paint and fitting will probably not even pay back the 3% (or whatever) saving on fuel.

If you average 10,000 miles a year it's going to save you about £50 per year at 40mpg.

Or less if it's <3% difference.

painting it will probaby cost about £20, but if it comes in black i will be considering leavin it. depends how much the spoiler costs, £10 i'll definately get one, £15-£30 I'll consider, £30+ I'll leave it.

The Greenline II hatch spoiler is massive and in my opinion really ugly -it's a not the same as the one I've seen in the catalogue It also drips water off on to the rear screen. I'm with the others on the cost/saving not working out. I'm looking forwards to the summer when I can have roadside picnics with my built in sun-awning.

Used to have a Volvo C30 there is a big craze in America for removing the stock spoiler and replacing it with the drivE one -they only get the T5 as an engine option.

If it's less than £100 I'll eat it.

I am reconing it will be around 150 to 180 squid! Another £80 to £100 to paint... If you can get one for a tenner, get me one, painted for another twenty. I will pay you DOUBLE for your time!

Well, if yours is black magic and you can remove it without damage, I'll have it off you. Give me a price!

That way, you can re-fit the smaller, more attractive sports spoiler for the Fabia!

Both happy! :p

one of my local bodyshops got my door mirrors painted for £20. ok maybe £30 for a spolier then.

I know your eye brows cost you like £80 iirc. i'm not in london though

i imagine it's only a piece of plastic, how expensive can it be. 4 oem side strips cost me about £27 a spolier, £30-£40 top

or i might be able to make it myself, using some balsa wood and covered in gloss black film, cost probably £15-£20

Here's an eBay listing for the 'sport' spoiler -I should imagine that the Greenline II one is around the same price -if you can get one.

And mrgf -No I ain't ripping mine off the car to sell -I assume it's there for a reason -Polo Blue Motion has one too and like I said, I'm looking forwards sandwiches in the summer, plus it's blue :smirk: If I was worried about driving a pretty car I wouldn't have chopped in my C30 for the Skoda.

That spolier is £140..not a chance i'm paying that. i might make my own then..perhaps some little fins for a fake spoiler with some tape.

Very true rear spoilers are not always designed to push the rear of the car into the road they are also used (as on the Greenline 2) to disperse the build-up of air up at the rear of the car that causes a drag effect. if i had pictures i could show how the greenline spoiler works but basically when the air comes up over bonnet then over the roof without the spoiler the air curls back on itself when it dips over the rear of the car causing a pulling back motion. The spoiler prevents this and helps the flow of air leave the rear of the car more like a raindrop shaped tail therefore reducing its drag. it doesnt look like much but it doesnt need to be when the build-up of air is only realy were the tailgate glass is so this spoiler is perfect for the job :)

seriously :giggle:

i much prefer the spoiler on the "sport" model, but then i am biased  cant beleive they didnt put a similar type on the vrs

Very similar to the swirl on the end of a wing that stops that part of the wing producing lift, wing tips now have addons to counteract the turbulence effect.

:rofl::rofl:
