Large MPH display reverts to Range screen

Featured Replies

A few weeks ago I had the maxidot display on my Yeti changed to the large MPH readout which I have found really useful. However I have found that if the car isn't driven for about 24 hours, the next time it is used the display has reverted to the Range screen. This is a minor inconvenience more than anything else and I wonder if anyone else has experienced it. I'm sure the change isn't caused by accidental use of the steering wheel switch as the screens in question are not adjacent and you have to page through several screens to get from one to the other. Any ideas?

Not had that problem on my similarly tweaked Yeti. I didn't drive mine for 48 hours and no problem.

I have noticed my hand can roll the wheel which changes several displays without realising it.

Thanks for that - I thought my post had gone unnoticed! I think you're probably right and we're (wife also drives) rolling the wheel without realising it.

Thanks again.

Two months on and I think I've cracked it! When I had the Maxidot display changed I was using the main ignition key, however when my wife drives the car she uses the second key and it's always when she's using the car that the Range screen appears. I moved the car for her today using the second key, found that the Range screen was displayed although I had left it yesterday with the large MPH displayed, and then found I could not bring up the large MPH screen. The question now would appear to be whether the Maxidot change should or could be done again using the second key (or whether I should leave well alone)?

I just tested this out when doing mods to Dellboy's new Yeti. The car remains an Australian model if yiou switch keys but you need to go into maxidot and re set the units to UK rather than metric for consumption and you need to re enable the changes to the large speedo display in maxi dot too.

Surprised none of us have ever discovered this before. Must affect Octavias too

Thanks for that - glad I'm not alone! Can I do the all the changes you describe myself through the Maxidot or is it another VCDS job?

Yes you can do the changes described in the maxi dot, just been out to try my spare key and no large MPH display as you say, also was surprised the alarm chirp sounded when unlocking the doors, didn't know this was key specific as well. Just goes to show, you learn something new every day.

Thanks for that. I'll give it a go.
