Have been looking around to see which cable would be compatable with my car.

I put my VIN in the Ross Tech site and it say's I have a 2004 Octavia. My Octavia is less than a month old!

(2011 Octavia Est)

Anyway, was just wondering if anyone can confirm if a Micro-CAN will work, or do I need a HEX-USB+CAN?

hex usb can is the most reliable setup for your car.

1Z is part of the VIN for a 2004+ Octavia, ie an Octavia Ii, which needs a CAN-capable interface. So the information on Ross-Tech's site about which interfaces are suitable for your car is correct. I bought a HEX-USB+CAN interface 6 years ago and have more than recovered the price paid years ago!

Micro-CAN is good enough for your car, but you cannot scan non CANBUS cars with it, the most versatile is the HEX+CAN as that will do the lot
