welcome to Briskoda

engine light could mean any number of things - can sometimes happen if brake lights fail I've been told, but best bet is to check the list of VAGCOM owners at the top of this forum and see if anyone can read the fault code for you - 2 members in Norwich on the list.

This is a great place for advice and members are usualy keen to help or give advice so you should get some good replies. Unfortunately I'm not an expert and tend to learn as I go so can't really offer more than that

hope you get it sorted

Check out the VCDS owners thread :) Might be someone in Norwich who can scan it. Chances are just some water has got in somewhere and it will dry out eventually.

Hi Phil

I'm in Norwich (well will be back in Norwich on the 2nd) if you are still having problems give me a shout. I've got full VCDS and would happily plug it in for you.

Afternoon people. sorry to resurrect this thread but i'm confused...2 1/2 years on my EML keeps coming on..My commute to work is  A roads and duel carriageway...Car runs fine. When I venture into the city after 10 mins of stop start traffic the EML comes on. multiple misfires/misfire cylinder 4..the car some times coughs. harsh acceleration and all is well..Back to my commute and the EML goes off !!!! Ive change the coil pack and o2 sensor ,new plugs (4 was carboned up) getting 40mpg going to work at a steady 50 mph , what do you suggest I change next.... want to get this sorted as im putting the car up for sale.... thanks  Phil..

I dont think changing things is the answer, you need to first establish why number 4 plug is fouling, check compression on that cylinder, check if injector is leaking, valve seal faulty, and correct as required.
