golf question cant get an answer anywhere

Featured Replies

I know its not a skoda question but im stuck cant find an answer anywhere so thought id try here as users on here know what there talkin about. Anywhere here goes my father in law has a golf mk6 2010 plate and he says the clutch has to be pressed to start the car even if its out of gear im goin to see him tomorrow and was wondering if this could be turned off with vcds so he doesnt need to press the clutch it really anoys him.

Anyhelp very much appreciated.

As far as I know it can't, it's the same as our new cars.

+1 there is no option in VCDS to disable it

Sme as on all motorcycles built since 2005?

It's a safety feature to prevent starting in gear.

Unfortunately the system is not clever enough to decide whether the car is in neutral or not.

Not sure if it CAN be turned off using VCDS

Thanks very much for the replies i can imagine that would be a rather anoying feature would bug the hell out of me.

I don't notice it seeing as always start a car with the clutch down out of habit anyhow.

TBH it was really annoyed me to begin with, but 12 months on and you don't really notice it as you dip the clutch automatically when you start the engine (not a bad habit to get into)

+1 I agree, its a habit worth getting into, since i got mine, it was a bit annoying at first but can see the safety reason for doing it.

Same here, whenever I drive a manual I always press the clutch down anyway so this would not bother me in the slightest.

a good habit for safety, but also makes starting easier as there it puts less strain on the starter motor as transmission is not having to be spun up when engine is cranked

Annoys the hell out of me I park car at work on my ramp and know its not in gear so like to lean in the window and start em up
