slight knock

Featured Replies

Hi, the fabia vrs I have just been getting has a slight knock on the front... sounds like the drivers side. Haven't looked at it yet... any ideas??? will it be anti roll bar bushes or do they have a link like on some vee dubs??? thanks

Possibly the drop link mate, replace as a pair they arent expensive. What mileage is the car on?

Is the knocking only there when the wheel drops for eg coming off a kurb?

96k mate full history. Knocking all the time on bumpyish roads

Yep sounds like a drop link. Not a difficult job and pretty cheap too :)

Full lock your wheels and have a look at the drop link.

will look now

seems to be no play on drop links

A bit more tricky to check but it could be worn console (rear lower arm) bushes.

Either change the drop links and see how it goes or take it to a garage for them to put on a ramp to have a decent look at whats going on.

I STILL have a clunk on bigger bumps on front left side!! >)

any joy with this, ive got a noise on bumpy roads, not when braking or turning only when driving along

im hoping its drops links as they are pretty cheap

Are drop links also called bushes? Or are they different parts?

I had the same, replaced droplinks and its gone. Bushes are different. The links a bar, the bush is a rubber on the bar itself. If its neither could be top mount, but id change the drop links 1st

Could also be engine mount. Drivers side of engine, by cam cover, under expansion tank.

About £110 + labour.

Another vote for the drop links... My car had a kinda metallically rattle clunky knock.. Only when driving along on not so smooth roads.. Nothing on the motor way, nothing on bad roads, no change in driving.

New drop links, noise gone....

I'd actually ruled out the links as they were replaced a year ago.... and they had no play in them at all. The problem was that one of them had actually seized, rather than worn.

I have the same problem mate. I have changed the droplinks and have made no difference. I have also checked the top mounts as its worse on full lock however they are fine.

Sorry this is no help but hopefully we can find out what the issue is.

Rizzo, worse on full lock would have me questioning your CV joints.

mine turned out to be ARB, it had moved over, new bar and bushes, and drop links whilst it was all off, has sorted it
