Bump

What springs have you got?

With a 30mm drop I guess H+R Rob.

Bilstein B6 are for small drops. As are Koni FSDs. Not sure if 30mm is classed as a small drop though? Sure if you checked the specs it will be listed.

Been recommended Bilstein  anyone replaced the Bushes then with poly ones

Koni full adjustable dampers. Best in the business. No question.

I had my front end poly bushed when the whiteline anti lift kit was fitted. Never got the back end done though.

The bush kits aren't to expensive but the labour cost for doing the bushes of the whole car is extortionate. Your looking at a full days labour

ok, then maybe B8 bilsteins? Same as B6 but IIRC they are designed for a car that is lower than stock.

I have an annoying squeak from the rear, when in wet weather and four up, since it was lowered , springs ok and alignment checked

Have you got a link for the kit Simon I can only see them separately , rears £150 , labour not too bad, ABC in Leeds and a member on here, that is why I thought about replacing dampers at the same time,

My link

Yeah, its best to get a fixed price up front, and if possible at the same time as other mods. You'll need a full geo realignment after though, IMO from someone like centergravity or wheelsinmotion

Cheers Simon, you could not meet a more thorough or proffessional guy than Peter for alignment see here

Will look into it because ill be fully poly bushing this car. My only reservation is are these guys justbvery good at sorting alignment to exactly what OEM settings should be, or can they set up a car that's heavily modified for fast road/track use which wouldn't work well onOEM settings anymore

B6 or B8 Sprint?

B6 - Ideal upgrade for standard dampers, all the benefits of B8, but standard length designed to work with standard ride height and lowering springs up to approx 30mm lowering (please note only a guide the key criteria is to ensure location of spring on droop). Tell me more about B6 dampers... http://www.bilstein.de/en/products/high-performance-shock-absorbers/bilstein-b6.html

B8 - Specially designed for lowered sport vehicles. It's a must when sports springs are used

with lowering of 30-40 mm or more. Shortened unit ensures spring is correcly located and gives less droop and more predictable control of over/undesteer and sharper responses. (In some cases only B6 will be listed.) Tell me more about B8 dampers... http://www.bilstein.de/cms_website/english/Products/Product-Details/?cms_produkt_id=7

Probably right with B8s... B6s with Eibach Pros

Depend on what you need. OEM spec is where you want to aim but if that dont work for a car you need to look for individual solution. For obvious reasons OEM specs are mostly for daily drivers and to save a life of tyres plus improve handling responce and comfort. Many times car might be out of spec and it will drive perfect and tyres will be great as well. If you got own preference - that can be arranged as well. Each car is different - the same suspension - but still different.

When my first damper goes, i'll be keeping the existing springs and changing all four for the Koni all rounders I mentioned earlier.

The difference before was truly staggering, and not very expensive at under £400 for the full set on an octy!

Got some Koni fsd from Larkspeed

Got some Koni fsd from Larkspeed

Check they are the later model (can't remember the reference, it's the ones Wardy has) as the earlier type are ****.

4090.

Went to Larkspeed today and they ARE 4090 part number  went to ABC again, to book in, he jacked the car up had 3 drums in the boot and two guys in the rear, and then one guy sat on boot sill bouncing to try and recreate the noice I am experiancing. Peter was underneath with a stethescope on each part of the rear suspension . The noise is from the droplinks( going to get performance ones) and one pair of bushes, going to replace with poly ones . He is such a proffessional I mean by doing this he will have saved me not only a huge amount in bushes, but his labour time as well, I have never met a more honest and likeable guy in his line of work . will post some pics up when I get them on (and dampers next week)

Well I had my droplinks fitted, new bushes and Koni fsd dampers today. The difference is staggering. Thanks to Peter once again at ABC for his magic , one bolt sheared off whilst doing the anti-roll bar bushes. Great some ride and sublime handling now, a few phone pics , not the best old, and new

Bet your well chuffed now. Did you fit standard oem droplinks?

  • Author

Yes there are no perfermance ones apparantly, but if you see the photo of them they are double in diameter, so much more beefy anyway and better rubber on them
