Why do you need someone to do it for you? Don't you have the cable? The software you have is perfectly capable of doing what you want.

The Ross-Tech link clearly states "No Adaptation Saving (so no changing of locking/lights/horn behavior"

From the links DGW posted it looked to me like i couldn't, the first link stated "No Adaptation Saving (so no changing of locking/lights/horn behavior)" with vcds which is unregistered. The second showed i can only do that once registered.

Beat me to it while i was looking at the lnks :p

I'm holding out on buying the vcds lite as i want to get a mk5 golf, i assume i need the more modern vcds so no point in paying twice.

Yes CAN based cars (like the MK5 Golf) need 'the real deal'.

Depending on what you wish to change on them you may be better bunging someone local who has VCDS 'a drink' to make the changes rather than spending £260ish on your own.

Thanks gizmo i thought so, i will probably invest when i eventually get a mk5 because i'll be keeping it a long time. The main thing would be fault codes, convenience settings and logs. At £30-45 at my local vag garage just to clear a code i would have made the money up in no time.

I'll pester someone local to change these settings for some beer money :)
