MPG so far

Featured Replies

So far it's looking good, certainly 25% better than the Berlingo I traded in. Full tank to full tank over 501 miles (400 dual carriageway) it gave 56.5 MPG. What are others getting?

I get about 54 MPG regularly with the same engine in an Altea XL Ecomotive, which is OK for a bigger car in spite of the wildly optimistic EU figures. However 52 to 55 is the norm in my Roomster 1.9D 56 plate. So how much progress have we really made, in economy terms, in normal driving conditions? I must admit that advances in emissions technology have made a difference in environmental terms, especially tax bills. In 50,000 miles of DPF equipped driving I've never had a problem.

500 miles from a tank is usually not a problem on a long journey and 450 mile when doing lots of town driving. Very happy as this is from a petrol engine which at the moment is 8p per litre cheaper than diesel :)

You misunderstand, I got 501 miles using less than a full tank. I measured what was needed to re-fill up after 501 miles and calculated the mpg on the fuel used. A tank full at that rate would have given around 700 miles.

Just going from the onboard computer so not sure how accurate they are. I seem to be averaging about 48mpg round town so quite pleased with that. Driving like an absolute numpty coming home from work at midnight last night (no traffic about) it was reading 67.4mpg :giggle:

Bryan when I bought the Roomy it was a toss up between this and a Berlingo, but they seem to hold their price more and run higher mileages for the same money.

I've run a Berlingo for the past 6 years, would have bought the new one except that there are a lot of reports of the rear tyres being worn completely away on the inner edge in around 15k miles or so. Apparently the suspicion is that the rear wheels are misaligned, and there is no means to adjust. Not sure how true this is but I wasn't willing to take the chance. Anyway the Roomster is more economic, if a bit less carrying capacity.

Yes really pleased with mine. The power of the engine for a 1.4 is quite surprising but I don't normally drive it hard anyway. Didn't realise there were tyre problems with the new Blingo, that is a shock.

I thought you were quoting a low number of miles for a full tank of diesel, oops my bad.

1.2tdi cr, have just done brim to brim 336 miles and used 6.85 gallons. Cruise control set at 73mph mostly motorway driving, with some start/stop city driving also. looks like just under 49 miles per gallon. Car has only done 4271 miles. I think it is a great little engine,it loves to go, have to keep lifting foot to keep speed limits

Only ~1400 miles thus far, but mid 40's average.

And rather worryingly falling! (see Fuelly link below)

My 1.9D, 2008 plate Roomster 3 gives about 57-60mpg, but then I do oodles of motorway miles and sit at about 65mph. Just clocked 90k miles this week, still 50% on the brake pads :)
