Not really obsessed by headlights

Featured Replies

Although this is my third topic about them I'm really not sure what the situation is. My 2010 Roomster has 4 headlights, 2 reflector H7 main beams and 2 projector dipped beams also H7. So that's 4 separate lamps with 4 bulbs. The inner ones are the mains.

I've noticed a few recent Roomsters with completely different configurations, some with 2 lamps some with 4.Sometimes the projectors are inners, sometimes outers. Can someone give me an idea of the development of the lights please? What is the most recent spec? Why so many changes?

I think headlights depends on trim level. Mine is called 'Style' and its the first - basic trim level. My car is 2010 model too and is equipped with H4 reflector headlights. They are not as good as Octavia's MK1 '02 were, but they are way better than Fabia's Mk1 '06.

Thanks for that, so even in the same year they differ. Perhaps I'll give up trying to understand.

If you got turning or lense lights, you have 4x H7, otherwise 2x H4. This depends on the model and chosen options.

My MKI Fabia has two bulbs for the high (main) beam, two for the dipped beam, and two for the front fogs, and two for the side lights......very expensive when you upgrade the bulbs to Phillips or Osram 100% brigher!!! (not the sides obviously)

And yes is depends on spec.......

either standard or "curve projector"

Also when they did the facelift (end of 2010 start of 2011) the front end changed (new wider center grill and the headlamps don't curve up into bonnet so much) so new headlamps, bonnet, grills, bumper.......also minor changes to the dash inside!.... B)

I think having the 4 bulbs is way better than the two bulb versions as it means that you can really upgrade and gets lots of light down the road...

Thanks for helping to clarify, my front end is exactly the same as Stratogs picture above, except 4 lights within the same size glasses. Can you say whether mine is pre or post facelift?

I agree about upgrading the lights, I've done the main beams but the access to the dips is just too tight for my hands, so I'm waiting to find out how others manage it.
