VCDS lead compatilibty

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Quick question - a chap at uni has offered me long term loan of a OBDII lead that he uses on his Peugot with 'Peugot Partner'. Is there a possibility it will work with VCDS lite, or are the leads make specific? If so I'll just bite the bullet and get a lead off Gendon (or whoever), but if I can use this for free then. . . emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I've had a couple of offers of help/scans, but a garage had a go at scanning it, and they couldn't talk to the car, so I don't want to waste the time of others (or my own money on garage fees) hunting down a physical connection issue first.

Thanks!

Joe

How old is the car?

If it is a MK5 Golf onwards then you are going to need the genuine Ross-Tech interface (maybe why the garage could not connect?)

02 plate Golf. The garage was a Vag specilist, and was using VCDS. Not sure what version or lead though.

Thanks

A MK4 will work on VCDS lite and a cheap eBay cable then (it is limited to what it will do mind), but it will at least connect.

Being a VAG specialist I would be surprised if they were using anything other than genuine??

What I was hoping to hear! Thanks :) All I really want to do is get the fault codes, and log a couple of values (I think it's am injection/fuelling issue I have).

I'd assume it was all genuine - they were taking a quick look just before they went come right before Christmas, neither I or them really wanted to hang around - they just said it won't work, pop back in the new year and we'll have a look (but would charge).

Anyway, I'll take the other guy up on his offer and see how I get on.

Thanks again.
