N80 valve/O2 probe issue.

Featured Replies

Hi Folks. Put 1/2 tank petrol in car (Mk1 Furby BBZ engine)this weekend, next day Engine Management light comes on. Fault code reader tells me it's Evap system Incorrect Purge Flow (the N80 valve?) - and also the O2 probe shorting out to B+. Just before this event i had noticed a quiet ticking from the engine bay whilst faffing about before driving away from cold, with poor fuel consumption that trip - i put that down to very cold temps outside that day, been fine since. No idling/fuel-smell issues as yet. Presumably a stuck(open?) N80 valve would throw the O2 probe parameters out. Or could it be something daft like a badly-fitting fuel cap - haven't checked that yet (doh!). Any similar occurances out there? Cheers, Dave.

Well, after disconnecting the N80 i gave it a squirt of WD40 and plugged it back in. Result (so far...) is a clear dash, hurrah!
