Heater - hot/cold/hot/cold

Featured Replies

I replaced the CTS in my system t'other day, and I'm not getting decent heating like I used to (ie it's not like a blast furnace)

When I brake, I could feel the hot air go freezing cold, and then return to normal. I had this on my MGF and it was an airlock, but didn't think the car would be prone to this, especially a few days after doing it.

Also ... I'm getting a load of steam from the exhaust. No crud on cap though. I'm -always- paranoid about white steam from the exhaust (after a few years with a K-series).

It does sound like either an airlock or not enough water in the system. Have you checked the level and jumped up and down on the front bumper/wing with the cap off??

It has been fine today, I only do about five miles a day in it. Think it was an airlock!

Assuming it's a Felicia....then when filling/topping off coolant, it helps to squeeze the radiator hoses now and again...plus, removing the temperature sensor on top of the thermostat housing[which should almost be the highest point on the system, [apart from a correctly-filled header tank/expansion bottle]] allow air to escape.....don't loose the O-ring though..or the plastic spring clip!

Run the engine up to temp, and allow to cool, topping up as necessary helps too....
