Any fuel for your Yeti?

Featured Replies

What is going on? There seems to be a dire situation in East Anglia with fuel shortage. Many garages especially Shell have very little or are closed for periods. Is this the same across the country? What's the true reason? Is it that the Refinery is closing in Essex and as it is foreign owned the Government can do nothing about it or what..... :(

No problem getting fuel in South Wales only paying for it but we all pay too much think your problem is the refinery in recievership hope some one takes it on soon or we will all land up paying more for fuel due to demand

I went to my local Shell yesterday and they did not have a drop of diesel in any of the pumps........... Hmmm. Wonder if they will have some today?

Also interesting to note is that at my Shell diesel is 139,9p a litre at the moment and at my local Tesco (less than a mile away) it is 142,9!!! I guess Tesco have a 5p a litre off deal at the moment? Cynic moi? No. But then my Shell is consistently cheaper than my Tesco. Diesel heaven. :giggle:

No issues in Shropshire that I'm aware of. Price is £139.9 also!

As you know J, our local Shell garage is quite reasonably priced.

We regularly use it and when they run out it's a PITA!

They must have been short of diesel this morning as one driver put £60 of petrol in instead. :dull:

Argh......... an easy waste of a few hours then! I'm surprised your drivers don't do it more often. :giggle: Well I hope they don't! But I hope it was a simple van and that the issue was sorted by just pumping the petrol out? And did not involve hundreds of pounds worth of new filters.

It was back on the road in two hours.

Our fuel cards are DIESEL ONLY, which is very handy in these situations.

The card is refused for the petrol purchase so they have to pay themselves.

That way they know it's the wrong fuel and don't start the engine withiout realising. :D

Ah, been there, done that you have! So if you are dozy and have not had your morning coffee and misfuel, it is all your fault and you don't get 2 hours off work! Clever. B)

THat's why I love the easyfuel on the Fords. Impossible to put the wrong pump in.

Filled up with diesel (Shell - not that I'm that bothered) in Bradford today (139.9/litre). Didn't seem to be any shortage, but a lot more cars there than normal filling up - so maybe a rumour is spreading that things will get tight?

The tanker drivers at my local refinery have been on strike now for 2 weeks over pay and conditions, maybe it's having the desired effect.........

  • 2 weeks later...

Sanctions against a nuclear Iran, entitlements and labor strikes, a socialized government with little free enterprise. What could possibly go wrong? emoticon-0114-dull.gif

Just paid €1.414 for a litre of Diesel. Gone up 2c in the past week. A trip to Luxembourg is called for I think, diesel @ €1,18/l according to today's paper.

Top up the car with wine, whisky and tobacco and I'm quids in.

Around the corner from my office in Kensington, London - just across from the only Bristol cars dealer on the planet - is the UK's most expensive fuel station. 169,9 for a litre of diesel I kid you not. Who on EARTH would full up there?!!?!?
