Main dealer tricks

Featured Replies

Hi,

Having fallen out with my dealer a while ago ( not being straight with me and miles too expensive) I had a call from them recently to advise that my car had a factory recall out for replacement deisel injectors. Obviously this was an FOC job. However, within an hour of them having the car, I had another call telling me that 1. My lights were showing "white light readings" and all the bulbs should be replaced.(over £100 to do this). 2. My wiper blades needed renewing (only replaced them 2 weeks previously) 3. My rear suspension bushes were in dangerous condition. No they weren't.

Are they really so quiet that they expect people to fall for all these scams?

Previously, they called me (although I have not used them for 2 years) to inform me that my cam belt needed to be replaced. The original service schedule indicated that this would be normal at 80k miles but they claimed that Skoda had brought it forward to 50k. Their quote? £899.00. My local private garage (which has real mechanics - not fitters)? £400 including water pump.

I guess I too could run a rally car if I behaved like this with my customers.

100 quid to replace 6 indicator bulbs are they having a laugh,

It is now law that garages are ment to do like health checks on cars everytime they come into garage as if something falls off after its been in then it could be there fault, which to me seems a right load of tripe,

I would rather expect them to report the issues if any to you when you go to pick the car up after the works been done rather than phoning you an hour after you drop it off
