Cam belt for a 1.9 Tdi

Featured Replies

My wife's 2001 Fabia Elegance Tdi is due to have it's cam belt replaced. It's engine number is ATD150691ATD. It will be the first time we haven't used a main dealer and we will be supplying the belt kit.

I understand that the ATD engine could be fitted with either a spring or hydraulic tensioner. Can anyone tell me which was used on her Fabia? Also, should we replace the water pump at the same time? The car has about 115,000 on the clock. From reading other topics it should on some models (like my '98 Octavia Tdi) but not on others.

Finally, are there any manufacturers that are (are not) preferred? The kits available seem to be from Dayco, Gates, SKF & VW.

Glad I'm not doing it. It was cold enough doing the Octavia's oil change yesterday!

Get from Euro car parts , a sponser on here, enter your reg and the part you want, at checkout enter BRISvK25 to get 25% off the price, change the water pump as well no brainer , cheap as chips, and if that seizes you are up the creek
