iTunes to SD Card Programming for Bolero Unit

Featured Replies

I am awaiting delivery of my new Yeti Elegance and thought I would get an SD card charged with my music. I run iTunes on an Apple iMac, all music is in AAC format but I have duplicated music into MPEG audio files - approx 1,000 tunes. I would like to have these available on the Bolero unit in Artist - Album - Tune format to make it easy to choose an artist and album then play that album, or choose individual tracks if preferred.

Question is how to do that? If I simply "drag" the MPEG files to an SD card will it retain the info to provide Artist, Album, Tune info so I can see that info on the Bolero display and make my choices or do I have to do something different? Anyone done this before? Is it even possible?

I used Sony Media Go (free software for psp et al).

Main advantage was that I could avoid duplicate files in iTunes. If you already have duplicated files to MP3 them this will only help by adding structure to the SD card.

It converts files on the fly to MP3 (or other formats) based on the playlist you create for it. Basically avoids duplicate files on the PC / in iTunes. It also adds all the folder structures (artist then album).

Managed to get a fair selection onto my card (8gb or so) but takes a while the first time you do it based on data volume. Quicker in future as it only adds / removes files based on the playlist(s).

Interesting that I just discovered the Bolero supports the playlist files it creates in the root of the SD card as well so could do multiple playlists...

Pleased with it to be honest as all my files are lossless (90gb total) so didn't want MP3 versions cluttering up iTunes.

Sadly I find that Sony Media Go is not compatible with Apple operating system.

Doh. So sorry - must read slower!

Good luck with it.

I use Playlist creator on Windows and it does exactly what I need

This is for Mac but I have no idea as to how it performs

Playlist Creator

One other thing

Make sure your MP3's are 320Kbps for the best quality. emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I have always just found the files in the finder and then dragged the albums to the SD card.

But it does always seem to create additional files which I haven't seen on the mac which start with an underscore and are unplayable, but if you select play, it just works its way down until it can find something to play.

Glad it helped somebody - sorry it wasn't useful for the OP.
