recall

Featured Replies

I had my 08 Octy vRS PD recalled a few weeks back to get the injectors changed, posted it up on here and from what I gathered it only effects the PD engines but I would get a second opinion on it, If your unsure give your local dealership a ring would probably take them about an hour to check if they needed changing (Or so I was told when I took mine in).

Yes it does apply but not all CR engines are effected, not done a 170 as yet.

tell me more about the vibration? More detail please?

I have also noticed a vibration at about 1500 rpm on my 170 CR TDI, it sounds like plastic rattling under the bonnet to me though. I have been meaning to have a look but haven't got round to it.

There is no noticeable vibration. The cars that have had the recall have no symptoms, it's just a precaution.

The vibration problem I had was with the airbox. Dealer fixed it under warrenty. You can check it by getting someone to rev the engine and checking under the bonnet, put your hand on the airbox and the vibration will stop.

The air intake vibration is common, usually a few discreet cable ties stop it

is this a DIY thing? Can you point us to any details?

My car fits those details on the VOSA site, it was manufactured June 2009 and its a Skoda Superb II 2.0 Common Rail TDI. However I have just called Skoda and they have told me that it hasn't been done and doesn't need doing!? Is it possible that its not all 2.0l Common Rail TDI's within this date range need the work doing? Or are Skoda wrong?

Have you quoted the VOSA details to them Mark?

If it fits the VOSA spec then Skoda should explain why yours does not feature in the recall?

I suppose 1867 units over the whole VAG isn't alot - but its a saftey recall after all.

I did try to give them the details from VOSA but he didn't want to know, just kept saying if it was relevant then it would appear on his computer ("Computer says no")!! I think i will call again in the week as they usually have someone more helpful at the service desk.

Ring skoda cs before you go in. They might be able to enlighten the dealer before your visit.

Sent from my phone....

I'm sure my Superb (170 4x4) has had this fix - they done it in early Jan when it was in for a paint inspection when paint was peeling from bumper...

Oh well... visited the main Skoda garage (Israel). One rev-up and the "diagnosis specialist" said he knows what it is and promised to fix it. (Got the buzzing bass on front right hand door fixed as well).

Amazing how quiet the engine became!!!
